Default Does oil make that much of a difference?

I changed all of my fluids on my 03 road king classic from Syn 3 in all three holes to Amsoil in the crankcase, redline transmission fluid in the tranny and HD formula + in the primary. Since the change it seems that it tends to shift more smoothly and the engine seems more quiet. It maybe my imagination as I thought oil is oil. Has anyone had this experince?

I also just switched to Amsoil, 20/50W in engine, 75/90W in trans. I can't say for sure that the engine is quieter but it for sure shifts better. Shifitng is quieter and neutral is easier to find.

I like to think of oil as insurance. I'm willing to pay a little more for the best oil. I believe that Amsoil or Mobil 1 are amoung the best sythetic oils out there.

You just went from a SYN - to a better SYN that's all

Mine shifts better with AMSOIL (75/90W) - Runs a bit cooler with AMSOIL (20W50)

I will be switching to Mobil 1 V-Twin 20/50 in all 3 holes over the winter. I get it for $44.85 a 6 pack.[sm=biker.gif]

You will need a six pack. 4 qts for the motor, 20-24 oz. (approx) for the tranny and 1 qt. (approx) for the primary chaincase.

I use Amsoil in the crankcase, Bel-Ray in the tranny and something else in the primary. I noted a huge difference in shifting and also a slight decrese in noise from the top end of the motor when I switched from Harley's version of oil. Harley doesn't make oil, I would guess that they just get it from the lowest bidder and then put their name on it. Check out amsoil's web site, its pretty informative.

I had an HD mech tell me that once I changed to Syn oil that the bike would perform better, so yes I have experianced the same thing on both our bikes

My seat seems more comfortable with synthetics.

Is this another serious oil thread?
