Default I couldnt wait!!

Dropped the back of the RG today with the solow kit. Hardly noticable unless you have stared at the bike alot prior to doing the drop. (which I have) Took all of 45 mins from the time I said "lets do it" till everything was put away and the bike was back on the ground. Very easy install. I was suprized when I took out the factory bolts from the bottom of the shocks to see not a single sign of locktite. None, nada, zip!!! I assure you it did not go back together like that!!
I will let it set all night to give the locktite time to cure and give it a spin tomorrow.

The Sears jack worked like a dream as well, very easy one man operation begining to end, even lowered it took only a slight wiggle to walk it back out from under the bike.

Soon as I get new batteries in the camera I will take a couple photos to try and show a before and after.

Tomorrows ride will include a trip to the dealer for a new shock filling fixture. Mine seems defective. the only way to air the shocks up now is with my compressor set on 15#. any pressure would work but I dont want to mess up the shocks by over filling them. Screw in the hand pump and nothing reads on the guage and nothing gets pumped into the shocks, yet if I push on the valve the shocks empty of air and I must use the compressor to refill them. It was like this when I first got it ho0me and for whatever reason it started working correctly, then a week or so ago it started messing up again.

Now to rewrap the jack before anyone gets home as if nothing odd happened.[sm=devilangel.gif]

Now if only the new seat arrives tomorrw like its supposed to I will be set.

Ed,

Glad that everything went together good. Hope the look and ride are what you are looking for.

I'm going to tell Santa that you unwrapped your jack and used it before Christmas. That might fall into the Naughty class.

Regards,

Bill

The kit dropped it about an inch and a quarter. I would say maybe a touch more in reality. I got the kit for about 80 bucks. I liked the idea of keeping the stock shocks.

TraderJoe,

Here is the link to Solow. If you don't see it in the website call them.

http://www.solowmotorcycles.com./

Ed,

The reason your pump is not working is that the treads on your filler (located on your bike) are too short and won't allow your pump to seat and allow air to be pumped. This is a common problem (I have the same problem). I usually unbolt the filler, hold it in my left hand and pump up the rear shocks then bolt it back on. Let me know what your dealer says about the problem.

I did as you suggested and dam if it didnt work!!! So I took it one step further and grabbed the nut with a pair of needle nose and proceeded to grind away half the thickness of the nut and reinstalled. Back in place I secured the pump and low and behold it works fine once again!! Great little hint on your part added to the fact that half the nut thickness is gone, it all seems good and I wont bother with the dealer.

Wow, You mean one of my suggestions really worked. Actually I got that fix off this forum early last summer. I had already taken one of my pumps back and had it replaced. After I read the thread I went back to my dealer and explained it to them. Harley didn't even know they had a problem.
