I know this topic has probably been coverd 1000 times, but I never really read up on it. I want to put a fairing on my R.K., Ive considered the DragonFly, but does anyone know any other companies out there selling a fairing to fit the Road King? I want the look of the E.G. Fairing. I also would like quick detach so I can remove it if I choose to. My bike is gonna go in for paint here shortly and I figure I should just have them paint the fairing right away to.
Some very good reading on fairing for your Road King in the links above. Have a Dead Center Cycles on mine
Love it had to press into driving to work lately because my car had died. Just ran it to cut the wind of the icey cold mornings and its working great! Can't wait until I can paint, gauge and install the radio and speakers too.
I chose Dead Center Cycles because they are the only to offer a "LOCKABLE" fairing. With this you won't remove the fairing and your expensive new marine stereo system any time soon with out causing a lot of commotion or do a lot of damage fast doing it to remove something.
All the others that I have checked when shopping did NOT offer a locking system.
Dead center cycles looks like the one, Do any of you guys know if they offer a smoked windshield for it? Or would a H.D. Shield fit? I really like the look of the low smoked windshield.
As far as I can remember, yes. The option is not posted on his website. But I recall, when ordering, one of the options was the smoked windshield. Also the HD and aftermarket windshields (designed to work with HD fairings) both will fit. I'm running the 7" windshield which sits 1.5" lower than my stock RK Classic windshield. I also just added the HD 3-pocket pouch and it fit just fine. I can't really go any lower on the windshield unless I remove the pouch. Otherwise I would imagine the pouch will extend out past the sides of the windshield. I will be ordering a 5" smoked for summer time fun.
