I have an Autocom, it works great even over my pipes and at any speed. I was apprehensive at first but once I installed the headset into my helmet and went for a ride I was convinced.
I've had the J&M headsets, the factory Honda ones, the factory Harley ones and my current sets are from Air Rider. The Air Rider sets are without a doubt the best of the four I have owned. Much more like a stereo and less like a "communication headset". The sounds on the stereo and while speaking are the clearest of all of them too.
The biggest advantage to the J&M setup is they are now component items....meaning that if one speaker goes south, you can replace that one speaker ( plug and play)....the also take a lower cord section, this allows you to move from one brand bike or year of same bike to another without replacing the entire headset, just the lower cord section....they work good also....
Speaker placement is critical in getting good response from the stereo, make sure you have the speakers placed a closed to the center of your ear as possible...
