a/c question
been reading alotta posts on the subject. am i correct in thinking that i can get the same benefits on the a/c mod just by changing the element , I.E. to a K&M hi flow, as i would by doing a "kit" such as a big sucker???
It would help in two ways.....first it will be able to process more air with less disruption in the flow.....and the K & N is washable.....so you can reuse it by washing and re-oiling.
As far as the kits go.....some come with a modified backing plate, or larger/decorative-functional outer cover or both. This could also increase or improve air flow.
That is just my take on it....I am sure you will get plenty of more replies on this subject though.

Besides the quality of the filter, the major differences/improvements in using a AN BS are the improved air flow due the the open back backing plate, and the improved oil breather system (compared to stock or the SE AC), helping with any oil misting.

A few days ago someone posted the results of airflow tests using various components. The K&N filter element in the stock housing flowed considerably more volume than the stock filter element, so you should see a performance increase with that modification if you reprogram the ECM through a download or aftermarket fuel management system. But as I recall, the K&N element did not flow as much volume as the SE Stage 1 intake or the Ness Big Sucker.
