A million apologies for asking this, as I know it's all over the forum and web, but the more I read the more indecisive I get. So, here it goes. I need your help with the below 4questions. I have recently purchased a 100% stock 2007 Road Glide TC96 EFI. I am very happy with it, but yes, looking for a little more pep and sound. I'm going to do the proverbial slip ons, A/C, and mapping...but which one? Also,cost is a concern. I do not want to do this "cheaply" but I do need to do it "economically minded".
Questions:
[ul][*]Slip ons only! Which ones? Looking for usable performance with a moderate exhaust note.[/ul]
[ul][*]A/C...which one? For those of you who say the SE Stage I kit, what is a good looking cover, and do you upgrade the filter to anything else?[/ul]
[ul][*]Mapping...Dynojet PCIII or SERT? [/ul]
[ul][*]Warranty...if I install any (or all) of the above (which I am capable of doing) is it truly correct that my warranty will be VOID? I hate paying labor $$ for something I can and would enjoy doing myself. [/ul]
OK, just for starters, the package I am leaning towards is the Rush Slip Ons (1.75" baffles), the Kury Pro Hypercharger, and a Dynojet PCIII programmer pre-loaded with the correctdyno map from Fuel Moto.
Am I way off base? Any other suggestions, and why?
If you go with a fuelpak from V&Hs you won't needto turn yourride into a Dyno Queen.Plus they have maps for various mufflers not just theirs.I really like my 08 Ultra w/V&H tru Duals,Supertrapp internal disc(18 each side)mufflers,stg 1 down load,SE AirCleaner,& fuelpak.Best,smoothest running HDI have ever owned.BTW the Fuelpak was $219shipped to de door.Regards,Tom ps:cool running ZERO ping!
I'm super happy with my setup. The ovals sound and look great. They are fairly quiet until you crack the throttle then they wake up. The PCIII works perfectly. I also did a true duals conversion to get rid of that hot RH pipe. Take a look at my sig and my gallery.
Thank you guys, for the input. Did you do the installs yourself, or did you have the dealer take care of the labor for you? I'm just wondering about my warranty. Also, what cover did you go with for the SE A/C?
I am very happy with my Rush 1.75 slip ons, PCIII, Ness Big Sucker a/c with map from Fuelmoto. Lots of good combinations but this works the best for me. Good power and sound imo. The Rush slip ons were installed at dealer before I picked the bike up. I added the Big Sucker and PCIII. Both can be removed quickly if needed. I believe that even if the dealer installs the stuff the MOCO can still void the engine and related warranties if they trace it back to the PCIII, SERT, or whatever you have.
The Kury Hypercharger doesn't have a large following - the talk around the campfire is that it doesn't flow as well as some of the other options, although I have not seen any tests.
The PCIII has a great reputation and is noted for its tuneability for various intakes and exhausts. People really like the Rush slip-ons for their sound and quality.
The more popular intakes seem to be the Ness Big Sucker or SE Stage 1; I have run the SE Stage 1 and highly recommend it. I've also used the FuelPak and SE Stage 1 download, and like both of them.
As for warranty, opinions seem varied and dealer response is all over the board. I installed all of my components and my dealer indicated that there would be no warranty issues at all. Legally, unless engine problems can be specifically attributed to the accessories there is no warranty issue. But individual dealers seem to interpret this differently.
Thank you too for the very detailed response. I talked to Jaime at Fuelmoto today and received a very competitve quote on a set of Rush 2.0" slip ons, K&N AC complete kit using my stock cover, and a PCIII for the combination. The package is very attractive and I think I'll be doing it soon.
Like you said, the warranty question is all over the board. I did all my mods myself on my old scoot, but would still take it to the dealer for fluids (because I prepaid it with the PCMP). They never questioned anything about theaftermarket carb, pipes, ignition, bars, etc. I think I'll go ahead and do the labor on this one too.
One more question...with the above package, is it still necessarry to get the Stage 1 download too? Or isin't that what the PCIII does? I'm new to FI and I heard guys say they have both. I was wondering why?
You won't need the download too - the PCIII does the same thing, but even more accurately. The download is not adjustable for different combinations of pipes and intakes, whereas the PCIII is programmable through "maps" and can be fine-tuned with a dyno. Jamie should program the PCIII for you based on what he knows about your pipes and intake. Looks like you made some good choices!
The only thing that I'd add would be that it would be well worth having someone dyno-tune the system after it is all put together. That way you can make sure that the system is tuned best. The canned PCIII maps may have it running OK, but for all that money don't you want to be sure? My dealer said they would warrant anything that they installed, but couldn't guarantee what another dealer would do. I've got a feeling that most good dealers are like that. They also liked the SERT over the PCIII for the newer engines. I have also heard that the hypercharger does nothing for you and is a waste of money (just hearsay, but nobody seemed to have anything that positive to say about it). You'll like the increased response and reduced heat with the upgrades. Enjoy.
