The 103 is definitely less expensive to do than a 110. The 103, you can bore your stock cylinders, the 110 requires new cylinders. Both require new pistons. The 110 will require removing the engine so the cases can be bored to accept the larger cylinders, the 103 requires no case work. Build a good 103, and it will give you a hell of a lot more than you now have in the way of performance. Check out HeadQuarters for complete engine build kits and there are also many others, such as GMR, Hillside, T-Mann, Kuryakin, etc. There are also the other alternative, doing a complete HD build, but you can get more for your money by going aftermarket.
Hope this helps.

compare costs of the two vs. benefit. I think for the little xtra you get with the 110, to me it's not worth the added diff in cost.

I have rode both the 103 and the 110. Both were factory se's-cvo. Really could not tell much difference.

Best recommendation I can make is that you find a good builder if you are not doing the work yourself. If that's the case, then set your budget cause speed and performance are all relative to cost. I have a hotrod 107" in mine, but the costs are over 10K when all was done and said to build this puppy. Yes you can spend more, and you can also spend much less, but in the end, you always get what you pay for.

I have cams, gear drive, pistons, jugs, heads, throttle body, injectors, tuner, pipe, and all the performance goodies that go inside the engine like valves, springs, roller rockers, lifters, pushrods etc. Combine that with some shop labour and it's easy to spend a whack of dough to hotrod your harley. Do you have a budget to work with? If so, contact Steve at GMR Performance or Doug at Headquarters and start talking.

You can do an economy 103 kit, you can go all out with heads and cams, and then you can go to a 107" kit and make that puppy scream. As Dalton said, you can go bigger, but then you're splitting the cases to accept bigger sleeves, and that's even more money. It's all up to you, the wallet, and sometimes the wife!

The 110's in addition to having more failures are not cost effective .
A 103 or 107 ( GMR , Revolution Performance,etc) is a more proven combo .
Checkout the dyno on the 107/TW 55 kit from GMR 121.46hp/128.91lbs ft

Thats my old 107 Dyno sheet from my St Bob. Great Build by GMR. Decide how much you want to spend and then do the 103 or the 107 builds. I would stay away from the 110 kit as you need to pull the motor and case bore- better alternatives out there.

As others have mentioned, ring the respected builders and talk with them and they will set you up for your $ and riding style. If they recomend a setup, do yourself a favour and stick with what they recomend. Dont try and second guess the pro's.
