We're all cagers, too. And if I spouted off about every stupid move I see on the roads - car and bike alike - I'd have no time to enjoy life. Ride defensively and move on.
and yet you had time to send this reply..... go figure. i happen to find some of the replies interesting, it never ceases to amaze me what some people do on the road.

as far as us all being cagers too, you're pretty close to right. there is probably a couple here who only own a bike, but the majority of us do have cars too. so what? if you're in a car, you're a cager at that point. its simply a way to differentiate between someone on a bike, or in a car....

It ain't just the cagers.

How about a guy on Hwy 225 in Deer Park, TX (just outside Houston) doing seventy with one of those cybornetic things in his left ear, helmet unbuckled, trying to dial a cell phone with his left hand. The kicker? He was on a Poice Road King because he was a Constable and escoring a heavy crane!!

I just about lost it trying to control my laughter and slow down somewhere close to the speed limit!

I was drivng down a lazy two land road. I approached an intersection and could see a very "bad" looking car with an equally "bad" looking driver waiting to pull out. I knew it would pull in behind me and I knew I didn't want that thing tailgating me. So I passed the intersection and pulled over into a driveway so the car could pass me by. The car went by ata high rate of speed and I pulled back out onto the road. When I pulled out, I could smell marijuana in the air......strong smell. For the smell to be that strong, he had to be smoking a FAT one. I was glad I had the feeling and made the decision to let the guy pass by. I didn't need a high person riding my ***.

A while back I was riding down the 410 loop here in San Antonio...left lane...doing 70 in a 60 zone..pacing the traffic...rush hour. This kid is bumperstickering me. I speed up to move over into the middle lane and this jackass (two close together...ah ohh critical mass) in the middle lane speeds up and will not let me over. I let it back down to 70 to get behind him and the kid whips over into the middle lane to go around me. Now, what follows happens alot around here...even when you are in a cage. The kid lines up his car with the front of my bike at is rear passenger door and then whips over into the same space I was occupying. Notice the "was". The boy here knows that there are a lot of folks trying to see the road while their belly buttons are in the way, I brake in anticipation of this fellows move.

Anyway, the jackass in the Ford SUV...remember he speeded up to stop me from coming over....he whips over on the kid to replicate the kid's move on me. I, by this time have moved over to the middle lane. Then the jackass slams on the brakes because the kid was pulling the bumpersticker move on him. The kid slams the brakes and goes into a tailspin and is heading for the retaining wall on the left side. I see this crap going on and the tightly packed traffic around them and me and decide I like the shoulder/emergency lane, find the holes and move my butt the hell out of this crowd before the multiple car wreck happens.

Anyway, kudos to the kid, he pulled it out and got the car straight and headed in the right direction. Meanwhile, I get myself back into the flow of traffic....a little ways down the road I end up behind the Ford SUV Jackass. The guy was giving me the thumbs up sign and after 3 times I figure out what he is trying to say.

There is a God though. He and I were taking the same exit off the highway and he turns into the local grocery store and I decide to have a educational talk with the guy. We discussed how stupid and dangerous what he did...how that would have been a multiple car accident with the strong likelyhood of innocent people getting hurt. Then I counseled him about my being a grown man and able to take care of business when I think it ought to be taken care of. When he started to say something, I told him to shut the f*ck up because I don't want to repeat myself. Don't under any circumstance ever do that again. You want to be a hero, wait until the a$$hole knocks a bike down....then go after him getting the license number and a good look at the driver. Report to the cops.

I told him that if I wanted to educated the youngster, I would have just calmly followed him until he exited his vehicle and then had a "come to Jesus" meeting. But, there are so many in this city now, I would never get to where I am going....besides I am getting too old and eventually after 3 or 4 stops would find myself out of energy and would get my butt kicked.

Besides, talking to the jackasses of this world really doesn't change their behavior.....Jail or the box will modify their behavior.....it is best to just go on and do what you were out to do and ignore the folks until they actually put you down....then game on.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the right turns from the left lane, or left turns from right lanes at a traffic light, here in N.C. I see it at least 5/6 times a day. also they pull out on a 4 lane road in the left land and take 4 miles to get up up speed. I keep looking for an illegal alien to be driving but nope, just a local.
