All responses are prety much correct. Fact is all Special Edition bikes are called Shriner Editions because the "Shriner Edition" was the first bike HD made and gave a discount on for Shriners whom you have seen in parades etc. They are typically Birch White with a special tank decal. Later as HD decided to give law enforcement a discount these bikes were dark blue or dark blue and light blue two tone. After 911 HD began the firefighter edition. All for simplicity purposes are referred to as Shriner editions.Of course for the past few years the Peace Officer has been offered in vivid black. You could also get concord purple if you were a member of the house of JESTERS (the official clowns of the Shriners).Thee bikes now offered in the program can be found on HDs website under special editions which include the ROAD KING,ULTRA CLASSIC,HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC AND FATBOY.If yours is black, it is a "PEACE OFFICER" SPECIAL EDITION. All purchased new must have the buyers badge number ID card and a letter of proof from the head of the organization to make the purchase. Anyone can purchase one used. Hope this clears it up.
the shriner edition does mean any of the "specials: Police, Fire. sheriff, all that is asked is that the original buyer keep it for one year after that its fair trade
Well, in the past the Shriner bikes were white and for a long time, other than official LEO bikes, the only way to get a white dresser was a Shriner bike, and they were only available as UC or EG. The Peace Officer's Edition were first the 2 tone light blue/dark blue, some referred to them as "Blue Knights Special" because of the colors, they really were not BK Specials...just Peace Officer Editions, also only as UC or EG.
The Purple ones were very rare, Jester Edition....
Then lately, white became available to anyone ( I had a 06 white pearl UC) and the POE came in 2 tone blue, solid blue, then later in black with blue striping....and later available in UC, EG, Fat boys, Road kings and other models
Firefighter editions were always red with gold striping ( like the fire trucks)..I've only seen UC, EG and Road kings in firefighters edition.
The first owner is supposed to be a member of the represented special edition organization, either Shriner, Firefighter or Police Officer....after the original sale from the dealer, and supposed to be a year, the bike can be purchased by anyone....
well, that's theit's supposed to go.....and yes there was a special pricing from the dealer....supposed to be anyway
My '06 UC is a shrine special and as far as I can see, there are no cosmetic differences. Long story short, HD bought my last bike back, and the only black UC they could find was a shriner UC. They had to wrestle some paperwork around, but they eventually made it happen.
