Cache-I've never looked at the HK radio in an '06 but I'll tell you what I did to add XM to the Sony CD receiver on my FLHT and maybe it will give you some ideas.
I bought a Roady 2 and used the FLHT box-like windshield pouch for the install. I put the Roady 2 and the micro antenna in the pouch and ran the excess wiring inside the fairing (the clamshell FLHT outer shell comes off in about 10 mins.). I powered the Roady 2 using the cig. lighter and connected the Roady output with the headphones icon to the aux. input on the radio. That's it....everything's out of site and it works great. Now if Sirrius has a small unit like the Roady, you could do it that way and be listening to Howard Stern in no time.
I know the 06 EG classic is only XM ready Not sure on the Ultra It may already have the module installed. I have the XM roady mounted on the handlebars with a RAM mount. All my wiring is in the fairing for a clean look. Total cost was 24.99 and extra wire. Sure beats what the MOCO wants....
By the way if you choose to wire it direct be aware the XM units are 6 Volt . I opened the lighter adapter and soldered my direct leads to the down volt converter insude. put it back together and stuck inside the fairing. I'm sure all this can be done with a Sirius unit as well..

Wondering if there is a way to get the Sirius radio installed instead of the XM radio in the '06 Harmon Kardin?
Aside from having it strapped to the bike in some ackward looking way....?
Thanks.
I thought the module was installed from the factory and included in the '06 model(s). Not a chance!
HD makes you pay for everything!
Seems to cost a bit more for the motorcycle as opposeed to the car. Looking for the Nascar & Stern programs.
Stern Rocks, can't wait for debut, (on my Bday too, happy bday to me, what a present!) I've got 3 subscriptions and love it. I asked this question a while back and got no replies. I know that there is a convertor that Sirius sells to convert the General Motors XM receiver to Sirius...maybe this could be retrofitted to work on a HD too..not sure but worth looking into. The smallest receiver you'll find for sirius is the new S50. It's as tiny as the Roady but mounting it will be tricky.
Most Aftermarket radio have an option for both. I wonder if HD will provide that option. We all know HD love money and they will do about anything to get it from us.
Having recently conducted some research into this question...Currently, this is no receiver that can obtain both signals...At this point, it would require you to install an additional reciever...
Manufacturers are working on it, however it could be as long as a year given the statements.
XM or Sirius is EZ either way. I have an Ultra but Im not paying almost $500 for XM/Harley. I have a MyFi XM unit I carry on bike/truck/boat or portable. It works wirlessly with FM modulation. I dont think Sirius gets Nascar till 07 season. Its on XM in 06. Just my opinion but Stern is a washed up hack. Catch the virus on XM 202. ONA!!!
Huge Stern fan here...I think he'll put a lot of those thoughts to rest once the subscriber #s come out for Q1 06. Bought the stock at 2bux guessing he'd be going there and it was a wise move, I'll have a few xtra bikes to play with in a year once I sell it
