Default Antenna Mod

One additional thing i did when hiding the full-size factory antenna under the seat. I modified the factory mounting bracket to rotate and secure the base of the antenna in the stock mounting hole.

How is that setup working out for you?
I did it once before and got poor reception, but i didn't mount it using the bracket. i just used a couple zip ties. I wonder if that makes a difference? Maybe like a ground??

No issues with reception for me. I heard that bolting it back up keeps reception the same as factory.....and besides the clean look, it is nice not getting whipped in the face anymore lol

I switched the keyed gas button for a simple chrome button, less things too fumble with while refueling means less chance of leaving a gas cap behind.........

I installed chrome switch housings last year from an Electraglides on my Streetglide. I don't have Comm or a CB so I used the PTT button as the control switch for my air ride switch so now I don't have to take my hands off the handlebars to air up or down.

Great idea.......do you by chance have any pics of how you wired that up?

I will take pictures tonight when I open her up again to finish the sound system but essentially the PTT is 4 wires (all air ride switches are 3). I connected the 2 middle wires to power 12+v, then one outer wire goes to air up and the other outer wire to air down. It's a personal decision how you want it. I have away from grip (or plus sign on switch) as down and toward grip (or negative sign on switch) as up. Figuring out the switch wiring was the toughest part of the install.
I installed the Arnott basic system so I just followed their instructions for everything else. I just didn't like their switch and where you had to mount it.

Stock Kuryakyn backrest like mine...

Took to passes to burn the wood deep enough to use as an embosser, then cut the wood to the shape of the center panel.

Final product. Didn't have to remove the cover from the seatback...
I don't know how you got the pattern on the leather, but awesome job!

Ha. Thank you. The seat is vinyl. I cut the form to the exact size of panel and used a heat gun to heat it up for about 30 seconds. Then I set the embossing form in place and stood on it for about a minute or so. I tried to do the Street Glide backrest and it wouldn't take.... So I spent $69 on a matching cover from Scotty's Sled shed. The seats have held up great and I doubt I will ever need to replace them. As I will have this bike until I can't ride it or sell it to buy a Vette, I am happy with how it turned out.
