I'm glad my idea helped you. After using mine for a little while now I am VERY happy with the results.
This is something I feel the factory should have put in all of them. I didn't use the acc plug because I already have the being used for something else.

Great job. Yours looks great.

All I had to do was lengthen the wires that came with the kit "91843-97" and drill one hole in the tour pak liner.

Thanks for that tip 1of2.

Oh, the little light came from Wally World. It is supposed to clip to the bill of a cap, but I punched two small holes about 1" apart and ran a nylon tie wrap through the holes. Then I snugged the wire tie down till the light would just slide on it. I can pop it off and put it on a cap if I need the light to work on something in an emergency.

I then put the fairing back on. This way, when I fire the high beams, the opener fires and the door opens. Added benefit is that the opener is out of sight, out of the weather, and will only work if the bike is powered. Cost - spare opener, which I had anyway.

I love this mod & can't wait for my ride to be ready so I can hook this up!

This thread is awesome!! I've already planned out 5-6 DIY quickies & I haven't even picked up my new Street Glide yet. First up will be garage door opener through high beam switch. Oh I'm ordering the J&M speakers Monday & I'll have them before my ride is done getting the engine modifications....I'm gonna miss my Deuce (it's a rocket) but it's time for a big boy bike.

Default hell yeah this worx

only mod from og plan for me was to use the og cover that protects the factory plug drilled very small hole in the end of it and ran the wires thru tied them in a knot together so they wont pull back thru the hole. plugged the wires straight into the holes the tangs are supposed to slide into. the radio shack part had soldered ends they fit snug. slide the cover back on looks like factory installed which dont matter for **** cuz no ones ever gonna see it.
6 bux I'm gettin another one to put under the fairing cap too.

Go to Radio Shack and purchase Part #273-079 less than $6.00.

My local Radio Shack did not have the part in stock, but allowed me to pay for it in the store and shipped it to my house free of charge. I had it 2 days after I ordered it.

Don't know why HD sells the alarm and siren seperate, but read the post about the "Radio Shack" siren so I thought it would be an easy inexpensive fix and it was.

here is the post that I read about it in posted by ROLLNTIGER.

Removed the right side saddle bag and cover and then removed the electronic control module, 2 hex head screws. Removed the plastic cover, two nuts. Cut the head off the factory wiring harness. The factory wiring harness has three wires black, brown, and green. The siren only has a black and red. Take two pieces of shrink tubing and place over the red and black wires from the siren. Wired the red from the siren to the brown from the wireing harness and the siren black to the bike green. The black I just tucked back into the wireing cover. Test your connections! Slide the shrink tubing back down and used the blow dryer on high setting to shrink the tubing. The siren is small enough that I used some 3M emblem tape and secured the siren where the wiring harness was located. Simple using "cutacroshorty" as my instuction manual.

I was surprised at how small the siren is and never thought it would be loud enough. For those that have the alarm but no siren this is a great mod.

I did not cut the head off the factory plug. I stuck the wires in the holes in the factory plug and taped it all together. When I pulled off my plastic cover the plug was being held in a clip on that cover. As far as the sound, the speaker itself is very loud (120db), but after it is taped inside the plastic cover and the side cover is put back on it is not as loud. It is still very noticeable, but just not blaring loud. Any other questions let me know. I don't know if it will work on the 06 models but it seems like I read where there is a difference between the 05 and the 07, not sure about 06.

Good luck and feel free to PM with questions.

I always check this thread looking for good ideas but it's kind of turned into a Garage Door Opener & Siren thread. Hopefully we can move on. Although it does keep the thread alive.
Come on guys, lets hear your ideas. Saw a post yesterday about a tool made to use when your ignition lock is removed. Pretty clever, should have been posted here.

I ordered it from Radio Shack in early Feb and kept checking with the clerk in the store, and it is still o/o at the store. Mayhbe I should do what you did, and order it for shipment to my house.
