Yea the Lock Clip really don't do much... You can bend them for a tighter fit - But it's the wind that's keeping you shield in place... Put many miles on my '01 RKC with Palm Springs Cross winds (sometimes upto 80MPH+) and the shield never blew off yet...
I think anyone with the quick-disconnect clips has to bend them down regularly. As a precaution, I've got a short bungee running clip-to-clip and under the steering head. Find a bungee that matches scooter color. Like Pappy, I've never had a problem with the windscreen coming loose.
Yes, the clips are useless. However, keep the acorn nuts snug enoughso that you can still remove the windshield. I've watched my windshield blow off backwards once before when parked in a desert overview in 50+ mph winds over Borrego Springs. You don't want to know what the windsheild and brackets look like after spinning about 30 yards across the parking lot, but at least the short rock wall kept it from sailing down hundreds of feet to the desert floor.
