I bought my '08 EGlide Classic on Sept.1 and added the schedule maintenance service package that includes all scheduled maintenance.
When I brought the bike up for the 1K svc. they would not put synthetics because they say it only covers regular oils, if I wanted to change to synths it would be a additional $45! [:@]
Maybe they'reright but it sure makes you feel "shafted" by the "stealer" once again!
Yea... Most service contracts are like that & they suck... More fun getting to know your Putt and doing it yourself when needed... So you're out on a extended 3 - 4 week Putt and it time for a scheduled service.... Now where ya at??? I would see if they'll refund the contract $$$$ and buy the books and GET TO KNOW YOUR BIKE!!
I bought into a 20K service plan with oil changes every 2500 miles. I agonized over whether or not to upgrade to synthetic and finally at 10Kmile service I asked how much it would cost to upgrade. They said that they had changed their service plan and that the switch to synthetics was free. I asked when they made the change and they said last year, (just about when I bought my plan, thank you vey much for telling me [:@]). I am done with the plan now and will be doing my own service. I am also going with Mobil 1 V-Twin 20-50 a real synthetic in all 3 holes for $7.47 a qt. and $2.50 qt. cheaper than HD's "synthetic".
Synthetic costs twice as much, not sure why you thought they wouldn't mind upgrading your fluids free. [sm=confused06.gif]
Syns.areover rated and over pricedanyway.

I bought it, wasn't happy with it from the get go. The only reason I bought it was the included pick up and delivery. I bought my bike about 80 miles from home but it's a full day trip drop off and another day pickup plus gas, ends up as aok deal. First service, the anxiety from having my bike in a HD dealer made me realize I made a terrible decision since I have always done my own service.
I offered to sell the plan back to them for thirty cents on the dollar. They laughed!!
If you can get anything back on your contract, take it and do your own service, there isn't that much to it.
ME? I got lucky, my dealership sent out a letter stating that effective 1/1/08 they were discontinuing there included (they called it free even though the contract is $1800!) pick up and delivery (the only reason I bought the program)I called them and after only a brief chat, they offered me a full refund! I was shocked! Turns out it was $1860 that I now have to play with on my bike that the OL can't say a word about!
Nope, nobody even mentioned oil options whenthe plan was purchased, trust me if they would I would have either make them include synths or would have walk. Of course in the "ecstasy" of the buying a new bike I didn't even think of oil [&o]
On my Sportster when the 1K svc. "stealer" just asked what oil I wanted, no extra charge.
By the way even if the synth is double the $$, $45 plus what they already charge for the dino oil is way more than double and we're not talking Amsoil or Redline here, just regular Syn3, besides it's kinda shaddyhow it was done (let's tell the customer only what we want to tell him/her).
Anyway, I'll be therefor ALL my oil changes,I warm up the bike and I don't putan extraordinary amount of miles on the scoot.
so Imnot really worried, just left a "bad taste" when I was informed of the "deal".
I'll prolly try to get a refund and do the work myself, don't trust the techs, don't trust the "stealers", gotta use them as for certain things they're a necessary evil, don't mean I approve or like them.
I hate that they even sell/push those maintenence packagages. They cost a fortune, you have to get your bike serviced there (so your out if you move or get transferred), charge extra for the syn3 (it should be included or very clear that it is not). However ifyou didn't have the package they would tell you synthetic is the only way to go after 1000 miles. I also don't want to be locked to there oil in all three holes when there are better options out there. I paid the dealer to do the first 2 services before I realized that the maintenence is not that hard to do yourself and can save hundreds each time. Just my .02 of course.
Like said above it is more fun to get to know your bike and do it yourself anyway. I used some of the money I save to buy a J&S lift and a service manual.
