Recently the upper faring on my 06 started vibrating loudly at about 1100 rpms. I tightened all the torx screws, but to no avail. The dealer advised that one of the braces was probably broken, and it was a common problem. Of course I am 2 months out of warranty now. At any rate this seems to be a pretty Mickey Mouse set up. The braces should have been much stronger.
I mentioned it to a friend of mine, and he said he was having the same problem with his 06, but had not realized what was causing it. His problem was much more extreme than mine, so both of his braces were probably broken.
no not yet.
Take yours to a welder unless you can do it yourself and have the braces reinforced.
If you buy new from HD you will just have the same problem down the road.
The horizontal supports are a terrible design, and usually break where the brace attaches to the outrer side of the fairing which is using the bottom speaker screw. When Im at rallies doing installs, I usually have abeer cup going with the broken end pieces to show guys that these break all the time
Thing that cracks me up is it seems every bike has this issue, but dealers never have them in stock!
These parts become a miantenance item. There was a guy somewhere making aftermarket ones for $50 that was geting good reviews--anyone know the link?
