Default Harley Bluetooth

For those of you who have the Harley Bluetooth module. How do you answer the phone? Is there a button on the stereo?

yes, you just push the button that has the message to accept call..... works very well.....

when you make a call, you use a phone book that it downloads from your phone, voice dialing you say the phone number, it repeats then you say dial or nake recognition, you say tamara, it says tamara, you say dial and it calls tamara....

pretty simple..

I wish I had that luxury, I do a type of work where I need to be available when I need to be available..... if I didn't need to have a phone to be called at, I would not carry 3 of them, I would not even carry 1.....ever....

Not trying to upset anyone. Just trying to make an informed choice based on the vast wealth of knowledge available from personnel users. For those that do have it, would you purchase it again if you had a choice or would you go with another option?

What's the price on the the bluetooth add on? Is it hard to install, does it work with the Harley headset?

Thanks

I have it also. Actually, the same handlebar controls as for the CB are used to answer and dial calls. when the choices on the LCD panel are from top to bottom, the top item correlates to pushing the handlebar control forward, bottom ittem is pushing it backwards, and center option is done by pressing the handlebar switch. When there is an incoming call, just press the handlebar button to Accept the call (middle option).

As for installation, it was relatively easy. you need to remove the seat, tank console, outer fairing, and tour pak liner (if equipted). The box mounts to the side of the tourpack, and you cut out the liner to accomodate it. I have the tour pack wall organizer, so it still covers the Bluetooth unit. Note, you cannot have the Bluetooth along with the removeable tour pack kit.

The cable lays out along the frame and over the Gas tank, into the fairing on the right side of the bike (Passenger Side? ). Then the tricky part: you need to purchase an adapter cable for $82.50 from HD, to connect to the Bluetooth harness (it plugs into the CB harness), and you need to disassemble a couple of the modular connectors, remove the waterproof nylon pin inserts, and add the loose pins on the end of the Bluetooth Cable. It is something that you need the wiring diagrams for the shop manual to reference. A little confusing the first time, but not that difficult, if you take it slow, and make sure that the inserted pins are well seated in the connectors.

All that said, it works fantastically. I too, need to be available on cell phone, so without it, I would not be able to ride as much. Also, I can keep in touch with the family when riding / touring far from home. You just have to be careful with the dialing, I use the voice prompts for the common numbers, and concentrate on your riding, not the conversations. Better to be not paying attention to the phone call, then the other way around. As for noise reduction, no one can tell I am on the bike, unless I really get on it (my reinharts are LOUD), at cruise like 75mph, no one can hear any noise. Really slick.

You know, I think the two best add ons are the bluetooth that I need for work and since you already have the fairing cover off and are already installing the harness that is needed, you can add the factory XM radio, it takes only 5 minutes to install once you have the fairing off anf the wiring harness for the bluetooth.... makes your radio complete minus the crappy navigation system from Harley..... I bought that anf removed it, I didn't know that Harley had a product that bad....installed a Zumo 550 instead....

Good luck on the bluetooth....
