One of my brothers has bought so many new Chevy's over the last few years that he gets invited to some kind of customer appreciation lunchion where there is a lot of discussion on many different issues related to car service and maintenance. One recently involved discussions on "Top Tier" gasoline. Apparently many refinaries have actually been cutting back on the detgerent additives to keep fuel systems clean. There are several auto dealers involved trying to get people more aware of the difference between gas at most stations and the Top Tier locations. Check out this link for more info http://www.toptiergas.com/
Apparently you can get by with gas from other stations, but they recommend using a fuel additive at least once every oil change to help keep injectors, valves and everything else clean. I always thought I didn't have to worry about it, that all gas contained the additives needed to keep the system clean. I'm not sure if there are any Top Tier stations in my area, I thought Exon would be on the list, but its not, and we no longer have Conoco stations here.
Just as I had heard, right here in Tulsa is the corp headquarters for Quik Trip and it is the only gas I put in any of my vehicles including the scoot. QT adds more detergent to their fuel than any other supplier. Good gas good company!

QT is all I use as well. I've never had a problem with bad gas from them.
the gas in your area all comes from the same terminal. there are not enough refineries in this country to custom make every brand of gasoline
Yep, the same tanker will stop at the Wal Mart station, then pull across the intersection and fill up the Shell station. Gone, are the days when tankers had the gas name on the sides. Now, generic blue tankers fill up every station from the same refinery.
I will use a bottle of Techron Fuel System cleaner through the bike and cars every year. The bike gets one bottle split over 3 tankfills.
I just go to any new station. I cant control the gas, however i can select a new modern station with clean water free tanks. Also never fill from the tank, that is being refilled by the tank truck, stirs all the crap up.
