GPS
i have a garmin 2610 that is a great unit. although out of production, you can still get refurbished ones on the net for around $200. If all you want is a GPS, this is a great buy/system. Waterproof and runs on a SD card rather than a hard drive that may be affected by vibration. I use mine all the time, both on the bike and in the car when traveling on business. great GPS for the $.
Another vote for the Zumo 550. I reasearched and researched for about a month almost every day trying to decide on what to buy. It came down to 2 choices, Tom Tom Rider and Zumo 550 mainly due to the fact that these are the only 2 out there (that I'm aware of) specifically designed for bike riders. The Tom Tom got some really good reviews but lacked a positive review for ease of viewing the screen in daylight. I chose the Zumo 550 for several reasons, #1 being I could opt for the XM Radio piece, #2 I could do away with my IPOD mount (i'm on a roadking with J&M amplified handlebar mounts speakers) because of the built in SD card reader where I could simply insert an 8GB SD card loaded with MP3s as well. #3 being the subscriptions for XM being USEFUL AS HELL. Weather and traffic in addition to the XM Radio subscription. The weather piece saved my *** big time in Ruidoso NMby avoiding a hail storm. Garmin hit a home-run in my book with this device. It comes with auto and bike mounts in the box, nothing else to buy. A little pricey but hey, the 1 time it saved my butt in the hail storm made it well worth the investment.
