I had almost the same thing happen to me on 10-15-01. I wasn`t so lucky. Six years latter, her "stupid " still hurts!!![:@] I`m really glad youare OK. Ride safe.
I simply cant figure out WTF people are doing....When I am making a turn, coming to a stop, taking off from a light etc etc, I am constantly checking my surroundings no matter if Im in my truck or on the bike, and this chic, NEVER looked in my direction!! I could have been a dump truck with a full load and she would have never known what crushed her....
Im still fuming!!!
You probably know this but people are doing WTF ever is on their mind, & it ain't drivin'. You do the things you do (even in your truck) because you ride. You know your life depends on doin' those things. Hers does too, but she doesn't know it. Like you said, you could have been a fully loaded dump truck...........
I know it's aggrivatin', been puttin' up with it for over 40 years & it ain't gettin' any better. Be thankful that your experience & skill gave you what you needed to avoid yet another airhead. Congratulations on avoidin' the little idiot, & keep practicin' the safety awareness!
Be very careful out there for the next few weeks until we clear the holidays.
Every driver out there seems to have their head firmly planted in their butt.
Besides the usual distractions you have folks in a hurry, holiday partiesand cagers not at all engaged in actual driving.
Down here in sunny and warm FL we have the added problem of our elderly seasonal residents and vacationers stopping to gawk at every palm tree.
Keep your heads on a swivel and ride like everyone is out to get you.
Great points fmbeach. Here in Phx, we also get the "Snowbird" influx and it can add to the already dangerous road conditions out there in the winter holiday time.
mwriggs, glad to hear you kept your head up and kept your cool. It really is a tradegy how obllivious people can become once they dit down behind the wheel and turn on the 200 hp engine in their 2 ton steal brick on wheels. Look out and stay safe.
