A quote I live by:

If I gave a rats *** about anyone's opinion I might be remotely concerned, but I don't...so I'm not.
I ride when, where, and what I want and wear what's comfortable to me. I couldn't give 2 craps about what someone wants to label me.

That said, of all the things listed in that Poser vs Chopper Rider image, I have one item on the Poser list...a Harley chain wallet that's 10+ years old and used every day. But if I wanted to wear branded gear/garb I would, and wouldn't think twice about what someone thought of me for doing so.

I also don't care what anyone rides. They all meet the road the same way, two wheels with the shiny side up. HD or not, cruiser/tourer or sportbike matters not to me. Ride what ya want and enjoy it.

I know that I am going to get some smart *** remarks and so on but here it goes. I have been riding motorcycles for over thirty years. One thing I have noticed for the past 6-7 years is what people wear while they are riding their scoots. I have seenpeople wearing, headbands, leather vest, men wearing a ring in every finger, knives on the side. My point is do you have to wear all that to be a cool rider. I think the movie wild hogs made a great point on that. Is somebody a poser because they ride their motorcycle only on the weekends? It really does not matter to me when or what you wear when you ride, does it matter to you? I would not wear any of those things. I dress for the fall not for the ride. I am by no means a trouble maker, like to make friends, hit the road and ride just don't like people judging people because they don't ride everyday.
Don't forget those "Chain Drive Wallets".

Wow, this amazes me...I have Harley stuff, hell, I like it, I bought it, it's mine and I'll damm sure wear it I want to. I like getting t-shirts from places I've been, got some from dealers that don't exists anymore..IF that bothers you, too bad.
I have all kinds of riding gear, leather, mesh, ballistic nylon, several helmets etc...it's all mine, bought and paid for by me, again I'll wear it if I want to.

The Harley in the garage now is number 21 of the Harley's I've owned, I also own a 07 GW trike and have owned several different makes and models of all types of bikes ( never a Triumph, gotta get one of those)

Poser??? Don't care, he knows who he is and can't stand it....

I dislike the people that can't accept other riders because they don't ride what they ride, "you ain't **** cause you don't ride a "insert your brand here"....be it Goldwings, Harley's, cruiser, sport bike, tourer......hell, we can't even accept someone that rides a Sportster " see girls bike"...****...I love sportys, fast and fun ( like some girls I've know....)....I like the V-rod too, that puppy is another fast one....

Bottom line, Ride what ever YOU like, wear what YOU like, dress however YOU like.....quit worrying about others....yeah, we all want to be accepted by others, but I ain't loosing any sleep over it..

I can usually gauge someone in the first few minutes after meeting them, rider or not...it's not rocket science....phony as a 3 dollar bill and they stand out BIG TIME! It's to badthey don't see it......now that's funny......

Hmmm, me thinks that many old school bikers would think that anyone reading about what it takes to be a real biker on a computer is a poser

I could care less who is and who isn't as long as they ride.

I have a good job, a couple of cars, live in the country, work in the city and ride whenever I can. I've been known to not ride to work if there is any chance of ice or a great chance of heavy rain. If any of these make me a poser, so be it.

I agree with you Texas, the only people that bug me are the ones that "dress" the part but don't own or haven't ridden a motorcycle. I've ridden bikes since 67, Jap, British, Irish you name it. Own seven Harley's including the two in the garage right now. Don't give a hoot what the other guy owns or rides. Will ride with anyone as long as they are safe. I prefer jeans and a leather jacket, gloves and a half shell, but if someone wants to ride it shorts and T shirts, well its his skin. I just don't want to be around when he goes down.

To me posers are the jap bike companies that want to sell HD style and can't quite get it right. Before I moved up to HD I had a Metric (C50) crusier. Not a bad bike. But the forums that I went to had everybody tring to get thier bike to look differnet. And guess what they want it to look like. They want it to look like a Road King. Well they start with pipes, then go to the seat, then driving lights. Then some small tour packs and bags. Unfortunety they still sound funny or may I say different. Here at least most of us what to upgrade the motors. Never heard any body here wanting to make the HD look like or sound like a Honda, suzuki or Yamamha......
That said I think we just need to ride our ride and not worry what we wear or ride[sm=biker.gif]. I try to dress for the slide. But stylishy so. [sm=happy046.gif]

Well said Scott,

The fashion police make me want to throw up sometimes!

ORIGINAL: SMUNDORF

Everyone is different. Ride what you want to and wear what you want to and have fun. Don't care what everyone else thinks. I think posers are the ones that buy bikes and gear based on what other people will think of them. Bikers buy bikes and gear based on what they want and what works the best for them. My bike and gear choice has changed over the years to fit my style and for better function. The more you ride the more you adapt your equipment to suite your needs. I hope to continue making changes to make my experiences better and better.

Sometimes if I don't trailer my bike to the shop,I'd have to friggin walk
home, and I hate walking. Bikes been in the shop once in the past two years.
Do most of my own work,so don't cal me a poser because my bike is on the trailer.
