I am getting ready to install a set of V & Hines duals, and a stage 1 air cleaner. The dealer is trying to talk me into installing a SERT. Is that going overboard ? I was thinking that I could install
it all myself and go with either a fuel pack or pc III.
Also I am getting conflicting advice from people at the dealership as to weather or not this will void my warranty. Service Writer says it wont, Parts guy says ot will.
Long as you dont have a 08, for those mods sert is a bit of overkill. A pc3 from fuelmoto programed for your mods will run you under 300.00 inc. the shipping, 15 min job to put it on
i have rinehart true duals andSE air cleaner and im going with the SERT. that way later down the road if i decide to do cams and head work i wont have to buy a differentfuel system.
here's the real deal, yes a sert is more than is required for now. but if you plan on even maybe doing more later you could save a few pennies by spending a few more now. Whats the price of a PCIII about $100 less then a sert? the sert does offer more options for a trained tuner, therfore allowing better control of what you have. It's almost one of those do ya don't ya things. If it were me I'd do a sert over a pcIII but i have tuned with both and can get better results from a sert and it grows with you better.
The sert is everything you need it's like a house. Once you have it you can never go wrong by having it. If you wan't to doing any upgrades down the road it will come in handy.
The reason I didn't buy a SERT is that I wanted to install it myself and I was under the impression that the SERT needed to be installed and dyno tuned. Now I realize that a dyno tune is the best way to go even if you install a PCIII. Sure, my bike runs great in my opinion. How do I really know without a dyno sheet to prove it.
My plan is to sell my PCIII in the spring and install a SERT and pay for a professional dyno tune at Latus motors. This way the bike will be dialed in by a pro. Right now I'm running a canned map that came with the PCIII.
I'm kinda leaning towards the sert. But what can anybody tell me about a tmax ?
tmax is a great system and no SOO hard to learn. You really need to ask yourself, what kind of upgrades do I want to do?
If you like your pipes and current power level, the tmax is overkill.
If you think you might change your pipes like we change our socks then go with the tmax. Little changes (pipes) will require different tunes to be accurate. You'd be suprised, I am on my 7th set of pipes and I am done...some people are on thier 10th set...If you step up to a cam swap later, the the tmax is the road you want to travel now. Tmax is there to grow and has nice features but you have to decide what changes you are wanting later on. Tmax = no more dyno time at $300 a pop. You may look at one tune when you get everything together just to be safe, but not required.
