I just sold my 06 NT and bought an 05 RK custom.
On my NT, I put on Hooker header pipes, SERT, and high flow SE air filter kit. My dealer told me that in doing this I had to have a dyno tune, so I did and the bike ran great.
Now, on my 05 RK. The bike came with the SE high flow air filter kit, SE slip-ons and a stage 1 download (not a SERT) and was not dyno tuned by the previous onwner. The dealer I bought my RK from told me that in 05, some bikes needed a SERT and others did not, and that in 06 all bikes required a SERT.
Is this true? I am wondering if I will need to do a dyno tune with my 05? I guess I will have to wait till I get it home and ride it some to see what it rides like. Anyone have any info on this situation?
Thanks, Mike.
The best way to check is find a long road. hold the bike at say 60 to 70 mphfor a1/2 mile and cut the motor at the same time you pull the clutch in coasting to a stop. Pull plugs out and check color, white lean ,brown just right ,black running rich
