Default Lowering a Road King Classic

I have seen lowered bikes and I think they look great. But I have a few questions?

Why do people lower motorcycles? Is it just for the looks or does it perform/handle better?

When I ride 2 up I notice my bike goes down quite a bit. Should I be concerned if I decided to lower my bike?

What are the pros and cons to lowering a bike?

Two reasons, it looks cool and those that are vertically challenged find it easier to plant their feet on a lowered bike. You do loose ride clearance height and lean angle. You have to consider your riding style and what works best for you. I lowered the rear of mine for looks only, and as much as I would like to drop it down more, I just don't want to give up the clearance since I ride fairly aggressively. I love the twisties!!

Well when you said I loose lean angle that just hindered my decision. I take the long way home from work just because of these 2 turns. You can't take them too fast, but man they are fun. Additionally I am about 6'2" and have no problems reaching the ground.

A friend of mine likes taking the same turns on his VTX 1300 (mistake #1), which is lower than my RKC and he hit his floor boards and laid it down. No helmet! (mistake #2). He hit his head on the pavement and hard as his head is....the pavement won. Needless to say now he is afraid to ride his bike.

My decision was made when I took my father in laws Street Glide out which is lower than my RK standard, and I couldnt believe how light and agile it felt even if the bike is heavier than mine. Lower center of gravity feels more stable and lighter and it looks better too . I have to Solow kit in my hands, going to install it over the winter.
