Distortion can be caused by clipping or overdriving the speakers. Typically, folks underpower their speakers and they clip the amp. Bass notes require tons of amp power and tend to starve the highs and the amp then clips.
In a power matched system you can crank it full blast and not hurt anything and it will sound clear....but if still not loud enuff, you need additional speakers and amp power.
I just installed a set of Hog Tunes speakers, front and rear, on my 08 Ultra a couple of weeks ago. Much better bass and mid range sound than the stock speakers.
there must be 20 previous post about this --- use what sounds good to you --- make sure it's made of polypropolene (sp)it will hold up to water.
I have used some of the speakers mentioned; I now have MQ Quart which are some of the best speakers you can buy and are less expensive than some of the others mentioned in the previous post.
Do your wallet a favor and go visit the car audio shops and Wal Mart---they won't sound exactly the same on the bike but it will be close.
arson, if you use these polk tweeters and replace stock speakers with 4 ohm would that make everything right?
I already have upgrade speakers from Hogtunes in the front. I was just thinking about adding the tweeters. Can't see a place to mount them on a RG fairing.
