I was riding today with a buddy on a '08 Street Glide and noticed there was some kind of stabilizer linkage bolted from the front cylinder head to the frame. I never noticed that before... I'm sure its there to cut down on vibration. I don't have it on my '07 RG... does that mean that there was a problem with vibration on the 07's?
rocknrod is correct. Itis a further measure to reduce vibration and is called an engine vibration dampner. There was no specific problem with the 07 bikes.Just another improvement by HD to make their product more comfortable.
The original poster is talking about the Front Stabilizer Link. It is not there to dampen vibrations. It's made of metal not rubber.
It was moved from the lower position (under the oil filter by the front motor mount) to add stability. Some say it helps stabilize the engine better in the frame and helps eliminate rear sway that some earlier models experienced.
And there is only one front stabilizer link...not two...read it here (page 8):
