I bought my 01 Ultra with a 2-1 V&H Pro Pipe on it. I HATED the look of it on a dresser. I went out, bought a set of V&H Big Shot Dresser Duals. Even after the PCIII was re-tuned my bike was a slug. Huge loss of torque over the 2-1. Most true duals will add torque and hp over the stock exhaust, but the 2-1 systems add more. On my particular bike it came out to 11hp and 18 lb-ft of torque. That's a difference you will definitely feel when you whack the throttle. Since I can't see the pipe when I'm riding, I put it back on. The sound is throaty and I can still hear my radio at highway speed.

Bikergeoff,
I just bought a bone stock 02 Ultra and I am leaning towards the VH Pro Pipe, Big Sucker, and PCIII also. Are you using a canned map provided by PC or did you have it dynoed?
PS.Is there anyone out there that could check my spelling andgrammer?
If your in the market for a 2 into 1 I would recommend the Supertrapp or the Bassani. The ST will be quieter, the Bassani raspier. Both make nice smooth torque curves.
As an Englishman, it seems to me some contributors on this topic would benefit from remembering their manners,as well asattending to spellingand grammar!
I have true duals on my old Glide and love them. Before fitting them I spoke to my local expert (who later dialled the bike in for me). He tells me duals are sensitive to back-pressure. Low-pressure/free-flowsilencers are likely to give poorertorque than more restrictive ones. There is no hard rule and obviously there aremany options available to us.
Harley used to claim slightly more torque for the Glides than their other models with staggered duals. It would need someone with a dyno, a lot of options and nothing better to do, to answer the question: which way really is the best?

You are misinformed about "Most true duals will add torque and hp over the stock exhaust ...". The opposite is correct. But you are correct saying that the 2-1 systems add more.

Actually, either is acceptable, the "duelling" alternate being chiefly British. I'm not really trying to get involved in this fracas, but I didn't know 'til I looked it up.

I ran a canned map from PC for about two seasons. Last spring I was at a light when the bracket for the cold idle motor fell off the throttle shaft. The bike was dyno'd after the repair. The tuner said the canned map was real close, but he tweaked it a little. From the seat of the pants, I can't tell any difference from before the repair.
