I have ridden both 07 Street Glides, 07 Electra Glides and I bought an 08 electra glide classic with abs. All i can say is it was my best bet to do the 08. The new brakes on the 08 are substationly better. AND that is with out the ABS.
The problem with buying a 07 is that you will always have a bike that is a 07.....even though your buying it new....in a potential buyers eye the bike is already a year old. Add that to the new features on the 08's and it should be a no brainer. For 2K....I would go with the 08'. Now if it was like 5K I would be thinking.....5K plus extended warranty and first service thrown in....and he would have a deal....maybe
I am looking to buy an Ultra Classic and a dealer is offering a leftover ' 07 (new) Ultra for $2,000 less than the equivalent ' 08. Are the new Brembo brakes, and drive-line fix he told me about along with throttle by wire worth the extra $2,000 or should is the ' 07 basically the same bike as the ' 08?

I would and did buy an 08' over an 07'.Another yearmodel forthe new motor and tranny fixes from the the mother ship. I like the drive by wire and the IDS is a must from what I have read on this board which comes with the 08'. The Brembo's definitely stop the bike extremely rapidly, but mine squeak already. I must not be using them hard enough. I know there are some other differences, but could not rattle them off to you. And don't forget even if it is not important to you, HD is putting big comments into 08 being an anniversary year. You never know how the market may find favor on an anniversary year model, years down the road when selling time is a coming.
I traded my 07' Ultra for an 08' RG. Took it in the shorts on the trade. The 08' runs much better stock than my 07' did with upgrades. They say the throttle body is larger. If that is the fact then people will be putting larger ones on their 07's. My local dealer has several used 07's on the floor they can't move. I have always thought that the 07's will be regarded as the test year and that people need to stay away from them. True or not, it is hard to change peoples opinions. I am glad I made the deal when I did because I don't think they would do the same deal today. T.
