[8D]Yeah .......... this has been beaten to death ............. but maybe we can do it for the new riders. What's your opinion (?) ......... the advantages of wearing are obvious (legality aside) but what (if any) are the disadvantages. Thirty years ago I had a head-on with a volkswagen at about 60 mph ..... after a week I realized I was alive to tell the tale. But I'm not a hack for them ........ anyone else avoided St. Peter (or worse) by wearing one? Shades of the gun lobby, eh?

Not a fan of them but have started wearing one a short time ago due to having my intercom system working great.

3 weeks ago, glad I had it on for this 20 mph slide.

It is a riders choice but I will get another one to replace this one...

Not required in Indiana if you are 18 or older with a MC licence but I wear one. Watch a friend of mine and his wife take a nasty spill in the Smokey Mountains and have been wearing one ever since. It happens to be my choice and respect those that choose not to were one.

Always. I went down and my helmet had a fist-sized dent from a rock. No, thank you. I also know someone with no lower jaw thanks to a curb in a 15 MPH get-off. Think about that for a few minutes. Whatever you're picturing, it's worse in the flesh. Far, far beyond just the appearances.

I was in a wreck in August of 06. The woman turned in front of me and I plowed into her right front quarter panel. The EMS dude told me if I did not have my full-faced helmet on, I would have been seriously injured. I will always wear a full-faced helmet. I really do not care what other riders/bikers think. I believe the helmet saved my life.

One saved my head from serious injury back in 71, when a mustang turned in front of me and as I went over the hood my head put a large dent in it. Nothing but a black mark on the old Bell magnum.

I wear a helmet. I was hit by a cage once and this changed my mind about safety.
