Thinking of adding a Zumo 550 to my 08 UC POSE. Will the mount that comes with the GPS work or should I consider another? This has probably already been addressed somewhere else, but I'm too lazy to search for it. Thanks in advance.
Yes. The mount that comes with the 550 works just fine. There is a special tool that comes with it to tighten the "security screw" on the mount. Kind of a pain cause it's small and a bit difficult if it's dark. But you get used to it. There's an aftermarket screw that's much easier to deal with, but overpriced imho. I like the idea that it secures the gps to the mount so it's not likely to vibrate/bounce off the bike while riding! Never thought it would stop anyone from taking the whole unit if they want, so no faith in preventing theft. Just pop the bitch off and take it with you if leaving the bike unattended. BTW, you're gonna love the 550! What an awesome unit. Well worth the price. Oh almost forgot; the kit includes 2 different kinds of mounts for the bike; one attaches to the clutch housing, the other is a simple u clamp deal right to the handelbars. I used the clutch housing mount and like it, others prefer the u clamp. Try em both and decide. Kit also includes a mount for use in the car/truck.
That's just the kind of info I was looking for. I'll pull the trigger tomorrow on the Zumo. Got some riding to do this next year so I'm thinking this will help out.
BTW, anyone going to "Ride it in" for the 105th year anniversary?

You'll like the Zumo 550. I enjoy the built in satellite radio, too.
I have a zumo 550 on my 07 FLHTCU. I have it mounted on the right side handlebar controls and it works great. Have your dealer hook it up to the accessory switch. I used it on a 2900 trip to the Smokies and never had a glitch. One note of caution, never lose the special security screwdriver that holds the unit to the mount.
The Zumo comes with a Ram mount, which if you haven't used one, is a ball-and-socket type of mount that can be easily unscrewed by anyone passing by. I use a Techmount, which bolts the Zumo cradle to the handlebars, and looks a whole lot better as well. Pix follow:

That Mount looks interesting, but I can't really get a good perspective of how it works. Can you show some pics from the backside so I can get the idea?
Sure, here are two quick and dirty cameraphone shots that I just took for another member. The arm measures 2", and I bought everything at cyclegadgets.com. The part number is 30997C:
How hard is it once it is mounted to remove the Zumo base? On mine I have the power cord split via a connector plug so I can detach it when I want to do a detailed cleaning of the bike
