I installed a D&D 2 INTO 1 on my bike last night, and was wondering if I should put some form of oil / grease / anti sieze where the muffler meets the headpipes.
The reason I ask is for easy removal of the muffler later for service work. I had a set of V&H slip on mufflersand getting those mufflers off after just 1 year was brutal. I had to almost beat them off.
Whenever I have to remove mine, I just squirt a bit of WD-40 around the mating surfaces of the muffler and headpipe, let it penetrate, and it comes right off. This way I can clean off the WD-40, put the muffler back on and not have to worry about it sliding off. Anti-seize is slicker than owl crap and I personally wouldn't go that route.[&:]
Just use WD 40 or Liquid Wernck on the mateing surface and let it do it's thing, makes it easy. Like stated above. might want to use some high heat silicone to seal things up though. Just a thought.
