Waiting till March for my SG to land. I need a backrest for wife/kids. I think the low height definitely looks best IMO, by a buddy of mine with a RoadGlide said I may have a problem with the occasional use of a T bag. He had a mid height and still had his T bag rub the tops of his saddlebags??(I know he has an HD bag, but not sure which one).Does the type/style of the bag matter?-I don't plan to use it more than a couple of times per summer (unfortunately). Does the height of the backrest/sissy bar even matter? Doesn't it just get strapped to the sissy bar but the height limitation be due to the luggage rack?? What about passenger comfort--my wife and oldest daughter are 5'? Is the mid or tall more comfy for them? Thanks alot for the help. You guys and this forumreally seem to help avoid too many unneccessarytrial and error purchases!
I too am waiting for March for my SG to arrive, I ordered the mid size detachable, the wife said it was the most comfortable, she is 5'6 and it hits her right in the small of the back.
I went with the package from HD. It works great for both bags (which I have several of) and the wife and kids to hold them in. She loves it too of course going from a badlander on the fatboy to the sundowner on the SG I can't blame her. If I'm riding solo it just stays off the bike and only takes 2 seconds to pop it back on. If you think you might buy a touring seat for long trips with your wife,
buy the tallest back rest HD makes. I've tried the mid height rest and it
didn't work out. Mid height will work with the lower profile stock SG seat.

Agreed,I also tried the mid size one onmy ultra, just to short IMHO. It mademy wife and son feel like they were going to fall off the back. Now I'm looking to get rid of it in favor for the tall one.

I absolutely agree with this and is why I did not go for the short bar, I do not intend on changing out seats so the mid height was a good fit.
