Default RE: GPS Unit

have a 2610 mounted on my street glide , it does all I need and it was under 200 refurbished, it is water proof and recommended for Motorcycles. so far so good,I went with the ram mount and it is simple to install and use. works great for taking the unit from the bike to the truck and back again. Now If i purchase another for a vehicle, I will probably go with a NUVI 350 or up. Just because I want one that is portable and I an carry in my pocket.

Thanks for all the feed back, and mounting idea and opptions
It sounds that most will due fine on a bike, just have to do a little searhing for mounts and make sure it stays dry.
Thanks
Mike

I noticed a Zumo 550 for sale in the Gear for sale section.

Here's the ad.

This unit is in good condition, comes with car and motorcycle mounts, cables and documentation. I am selling due to some
financial difficulty. I will send pictures upon request. I am asking $580.00 or best offer. This unit is only 3mo. old.
Paypal is the preferred payment method. I will pay for shipping Ups ground & insured!

I am a trusted ebay member - chk my feedback andrew581

I'm looking into a GPS for use on my bike as well as in the car.
I'm looking at a Garmin Nui200 or a street pilot c530.
Can anyone tell me other than mounting, why either of these might not work on my bike ?
I know the Zumo is made for bikes, but I was trying not to spend that much money.
Thanks
Mike
Nuvi is awesome, is water resistant (I've washed my bike with Nuvi on it). Ram mount.

I think 200 same as 300 series

Might re-think the waterproof statement, see this link to Gamin's page on Nuvi's.
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?...4&pID=9122
Waterproof=NO
Motorcycle Friendly=NO

Motorcycles subject the GPS units to a lot of vibration, dirt and exposure to the elements. For inside a vehicle, they are fine. I have a Zumo now and like it real nice.
If I, and that's me, were going to select a GPS unit for motorcycles use, waterproof would be on top on my list, but that's me...

Some of Gamins units that work great on a bike are.
Zumo lineup
Street pilot 2610 / 2720 / 2730
Quest I and II
All are waterproof and have a Flash drive, no hard drive, vibs kill they hard drives unit after time.
If you are going to spend the money for a unit, get one that will serve you well. The bike friendly units also have a lot of mounting options, RAM makes a ton of mounting solutions.

You can get a refurbished Garmin 2610 for around 199.00 on sale at a lot of GPS dealers online, do a Google search....eBay has several 2610,2720 units for sale for under 250.00

Good luck with whatever unit you select, just select wisely.

I would also recommend the garmin 2720. I think you can buyone refurbished at a reasonable price. I use it in the car as well as the Road Glide. Cyclegadgets.com had all the mounting problems solved. I use the cigarette lighter for power. I shortened the cord for fit, but it still works in the car.

This is what I did. I got the 2610, made for the bike and got it refurbished at a great price and value. Great unit!
