Turned the ign switch to on, fuel fump charged system, radio came on, lights lit up, very slight click when hit the start. Had a battery die after 6 months, been 7 months since I replaced. No prob starting last night, could it be a battery again, not a heavy click when I hit the start though. Is there a security control that has a bug on the 07's that would keep the bike from starting only and let everything else turn on?
Good advice thanks, just changed the oil and drenched the stator with oil might have damaged the connection. will also check the battery connection but I was getting power to the radio.
I charged the battery all day, same symptoms, think its the stator as Phil advised, will have the OL push start me in the morning to getit over to the harley shop. She is doing squat thrusts right now getting ready.
Isn't the stator inside the engine casing? Voltage regulator is underneath the oil filter. i.e. don't think you could mess up the stator - the voltage regulator is "sealed", could have got oil on the connections - but, don't think that would be enough to drain the battery. However, you could have caused "charging" problems - but charging the battery should have been enough to start her up. So either battery or starter motor is probably the problem.
Have a buddy witha UC that had this problem on an 07.... Very intermittant no start everything else lit up.... Turned out to be a loose ground in a very hard place to get to a ground lug Directly under the starter...... Tightened it, itsbeen fine ever since. I would check that first.
