I paid cash for my Bike. I aint no fancy banker, I just saved up for it and bought it. My gold-wing was paid cash for as well. I agree if you can't afford it dont buyit. As far as hiding money from my wife that dont sound like a great or even a good relationship. I dont and would not dream of "hiding" money from my wife. I am also one of those people who are 2 months ahead on their car payment. It is due on the 1st. I mail it on the 15 the month prior with 10% added on top of the required payment. Good luck with it.
LOL, I knew someone would take it that way... I do not hide it from her to be secretive... I am the kind of guy when **** goes wrong, I got the capitol to make it right, but if I let her, she would spend every last penny until there was none andTHEN worry about it.I am also the kind of guy who is way ahead on payments. My 30 year mortgage will be paid in full in 14 yrs 7 months.

I supose you "pay cash for everything" guys never had a car loan, credit card, or mortgage either right?
Cars & Mortgages are necessities.....bikes are not.
Speak for your self...lol

Rule of thumb-always pay cash for your toys. You can use credit for cars, homes, etc. but toys need to be cash IMHO.

By the way etrader-that is one good looking scoot. I haven't seen the color combo in person but it sure looks sweeeeeeet!

ok ok,,lets get back to the topic,, lets help one of our forum brothers out,,,
thats why we are here right??
anyways can some one send lewd dude the $6???
No, But I'll give him 6 bucks for the hat! so no one will be seen wearing it again
(sitting on a Harley)
I might wear it to go pick up chicks at the old folks home or maybe wear to go fishin. Either way with that thing on my head I am bound to find some action.
After all, they will think of me as a banker!
Ludedewd you need to find something important to **** you off. Kids in afganastan or something.
I think paying for your bike over 25 yrs on a home equity acct. is lousy banking.Over what? some terms you already agreed to?
And ERick I really do think I am helping a brother out especially with the hat offer.
First I want to thank all of you for playing along with me on this one. It really did help. I am now smiling over this situation, so I am over it. I am not puting the balance on my HEL(& who the hell would take 25 years to pay it off??? I would have Termed out a FRO for 5 yrs)

As Far as the $6 for the hat, well I would love to sell it to you but I have not paidit off yet

It is hard to get the tone of text on a page sometimes, but what I find amusing is that it seems that the fact that I said I was a banker, so many members assumed I was high and mighty, or snooty looking down upon "bikers", or think that I thought I was some how better than them in some way... SOOOOOOO NOT THE CASE!

What you do not know about me is I have been riding since before it was legal, and I joined a club @ 16. KMR(Kaatskill Mountain Riders). I put on tens of thousands of miles on with those guys.I enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17(delayed entry) where I became pvt Moore, Ron as my name is Ron Moore, and served 6 years before getting out, &going to college(I tended bar while going to college for money)and starting a family. I lost my 1st wife of 7 years(together for 12 yrs. High school sweethearts) to cancer 6 months after the birth of my first son. I have since re-married, and have 3 beautiful sons. I play in a band with my father(we also ride together) all original instrumental surf music. The title track and debutCD is "Camel Toe". My personal Life, andprofessional life are very different and very separate. I am a Branch manager to answer the teller remark... However I was a teller to start out with many years ago, and not for nothing, but the bank president was a teller while in college, and yes the bank is a National Association. Not a private savings bank. So there you have it, probably TMI, but judge if you wish. I do not take my self so seriously that I would judge some one elses actions to be lesser than mine. My wife calls me a dumb *** at least twice a week, so maybe there is merit to that statement...

I will add no more fuel to this fire...lol

Ron

I don't know if you can call it making money by borrowing money or not, but I talked to my Financial Advisor guy when I bought my bike. I had the money in my savings to pay for it. He said, "Na, Na". Finance the bike at 1.9, your money's making 4.5 where it is, you'll still be netting 2.6, if you pay cash, your money's gone and not making anything, plus the bike's depreciating.

I'm gonna get paid for unused vacation when I retire next year, about 16k, I was gonna pay it off then. He said, "Na, Na", (figuratively slapping the back of my head), put that money in your investment account (last quarter drawing 10%), and keep paying the note.

I ain't no Warren Buffet, but he made it make sense to me, I, and he, may be wrong.

Oh, yeah, to the topic, I get my bill on about the 15th, due on the 1rst. I put it in the mail 1 or 2 days later and have never had a problem. I guess I'm lucky. I got one of those "secret bank accounts" too. Not really secret, just my side buisness account, she ain't got a clue how much is in it, but she usually just says, "baby I want", and baby goes gets, usually.

No problems here, they send bill 3 weeks before its due and I send a check. You could send it usps priority but thats 4.60. I think you just had a isolated issue cause Ive done several loans with them with no problems at all.

I'd find a new financial adviser! If the bike cost you $16 K and you finance then your still going to take $16K out ofyour account, only slower and with interest. You're not "netting" anything. The fact that you are "spending" only reduces what you would have made had you not made the purchase.

Wait until you see the tax load on the unused vacation. I cashed 180 days as a Fire Capt.

Hey, we're not judging. We simply use the art of decuction. I figure there really aren't that many positions at a bank. Your obvious lack of knowlege in the field of loans and payments left out the positions of loan officer and branch manager since in most cases you would be required to know this stuff. That only left the positions of Teller and Janitor. I gave you the benefit of doubt.

P.S.
You can't "write off" the interest as as said. The interest on a vehicle loan is only deductible if:

#1 the vehicle is use strictly for business

or

#2 the vehicle or vessel is equiped with: sleeping quarters, a toilet and a stove. Then it falls under the title "Mortgage Interest". (I want to see the bike when it meets those requirements.

A bank manager should know this stuff. And yes, some of my best friends are Tellers.
