I paid cash for my Bike. I aint no fancy banker, I just saved up for it and bought it. My gold-wing was paid cash for as well. I agree if you can't afford it dont buyit. As far as hiding money from my wife that dont sound like a great or even a good relationship. I dont and would not dream of "hiding" money from my wife. I am also one of those people who are 2 months ahead on their car payment. It is due on the 1st. I mail it on the 15 the month prior with 10% added on top of the required payment. Good luck with it.

My 30 year mortgage will be paid in full in 14 yrs 7 months.

I supose you "pay cash for everything" guys never had a car loan, credit card, or mortgage either right?
Cars & Mortgages are necessities.....bikes are not.

I have paid cash for some of my rides, and financed the last one............. This was an interesting thread, somewhat entertainng as well. I guess I would get my emotion away from the decision, keep the Home Equity money available for a real emergency or need, not to just pay off the bike due to this issue IMO.

I pay bills on line each Friday with my Bank's internet site, and there is no fee, and it is an electronic payment with HD Credit - - the $ comes out about 3 days later.

I would suggest this avenue.

Always pay cash for the toys. If you can't then you can't afford it.
No offense, but maybe you did not catch the post above, I AM MAKING money by financing...
You NEVER make money by financing! It may not cost you as much to do it one way as opposed to another but you never "make" money. What do you do as a "Banker"? My guess is you're a teller.

Time2ride...Have you ever talked to your bank to find out how payments are actually made after you go online to them and do an "online payment"? I have with my credit union, and according to them they, and most banks that handle "online" bill paying, once they receive your online transaction, then they cut a check, and guess what...drop it in the mail. That's the biggest reason I don't pay bills online, you have to have the money in your account at the time you do the online transaction, but you still have a mail delay to the company you are making the payment to. The bank has the use of your money for those few days, which is part of the reason they can offer it as a free service.

Skratch....the 10 or 20 day grace period you might get for not reporting a late payment usually only relates to being reported to credit reporting agencies as a documented late payment. 1 day late is enough to void your agreement on a loan regarding a special interest rate. If you are 1 day late on a credit card payment that offered you zero percent interest for a year guess what, you just lost you zero percent and your rate will go up to whatever it says in the itty bitty small print on the credit card agreement.
I'm sorry but you are wrong about thatand your credit union needs to learn how bill pay really works. You would think they would know. LOL The only timea bank cuts a check and mails it is if they can't make a EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)to the payee. Every bill I pay on line is payed to the payee the very next day since everyone of them can receive an EFT from my bank.

Cut the dude some slack for taking advantage of silly APR rates. Some people like paying cash, others make use of other people's cash and keep their investments turning better returns than the cost of other people's cash.

I use a major national bank that has a banking-by-web service. I like it because I can just enter in the payment and hit pay as well as setup automatic payments (1st of the month, every month for X months) for those typical things like mortgage payments and such. Plus, nice thing about the new banking rules is that they can't hold the transfer in float for more than a day- the receiving end has to take the payment and apply it same day.

Considering that bank transfers are just like checks, seems to me that would be a really good setup. Especially since it's easy and very traceable (i.e. no lost checks in the mail). Maybe your bank has this feature?

There must be some really dense folks around here if they can't understand making money by using someone else's money.
