I don't know if you can call it making money by borrowing money or not, but I talked to my Financial Advisor guy when I bought my bike. I had the money in my savings to pay for it. He said, "Na, Na". Finance the bike at 1.9, your money's making 4.5 where it is, you'll still be netting 2.6, if you pay cash, your money's gone and not making anything, plus the bike's depreciating.

I'm gonna get paid for unused vacation when I retire next year, about 16k, I was gonna pay it off then. He said, "Na, Na", (figuratively slapping the back of my head), put that money in your investment account (last quarter drawing 10%), and keep paying the note.

I ain't no Warren Buffet, but he made it make sense to me, I, and he, may be wrong.

Oh, yeah, to the topic, I get my bill on about the 15th, due on the 1rst. I put it in the mail 1 or 2 days later and have never had a problem. I guess I'm lucky. I got one of those "secret bank accounts" too. Not really secret, just my side buisness account, she ain't got a clue how much is in it, but she usually just says, "baby I want", and baby goes gets, usually.

(I am a Banker by the way!)

I have to place a stop payment(cost is $25)
I am really not trying to fuel the rant here...but I do have a question/comment.

I would ALSO be mad at my bank as well. Cause, if youhave my enough money in a bank to earn 5.5% interest...that is good interest at today's rate. I would expect them to cancel my check at "no charge". Especially if it was a bank I worked at.

I know (personally) banks do waive fee's for customers who have enough money in the bank to have (or use)a private or personal banker when going to the bank.

Just a comment.....

Your almost right, two problems... one I can not refund/waive for my self(and I would feel like a cheapskate if I ask my co-worker to refund/waive it), and two, The acct used to send the check is my secret mad cashacct at a different bank(i don't work for them and my big balances are not there)so no one(wife) sees it or what is in it...Do not get the wrong idea, if she knew it was there, it would be spent...
If you have enough money in the other bank to pay off the HD. You should still rate as a "no charge" customer!

Why not ask the co-worker -where you work, I would call it a PERK!

again, not trying to fuel the fire...just reading your notes, and making comments!

...and surely you know what those added loans does to your credit score.

Guess what. Now your gonna have to pay taxes on that $6,189.40 which will probably amount to what your paying H-D on interest [:-]
Yeah, and after the effects of inflation running around 3-4%/year, this ain't gonna' be "windfall" profits.

And then when the economy goes south and you lose your job, you have to start selling toys to pay off the loans you took to buy them and sell your '06 StreetGlide (with 750 miles) for $12k ("not because you need to") to lighten your debt load. Look around, it's happening now. You don't "make" any money by going in to debt for things you don't need. Just my opinion, like azzholes, everyone has one. nothing personal meant to anyone and not judging the way anyone else wants to live their life. This works for me. I'll be adding some debt soon, going to buy a foreclosed house for half of what someone else paid for it in 2005.

Always pay cash for the toys. If you can't then you can't afford it.
No offense, but maybe you did not catch the post above, I AM MAKING money by financing...
You NEVER make money by financing! It may not cost you as much to do it one way as opposed to another but you never "make" money. What do you do as a "Banker"? My guess is you're a teller.
LOL, no but I was one a long time ago... Hardest working, under paid employee of a bank... Your a funny dude wecroft... bet your one of those guys that says that it is not that the cost of living is lower, but your dollar just goes further?...LOL

But your right, I am not making money on the loan, I am making money on my CD...

You guys are a riot!

I always thought a "Knucklehead" was an old Harley... Guess I was wrong there too...
Nice quote. I like it.
