Default Engine Idle Temp. Management system

I have a 08 ultra and love it! Runs Great. I am concerned about the heat issues, while driving in the city. Has anyone had thier EITMS, Turned on. Comments Please, I would like to know how the system behaves?I do not want to install any modifications designed to reduce engine temp. The dealer told me that most riders do not notice its operation, except for a little rougher idle, when the rear cylinder is shut down. Installation is free. Thanks, Dionicio!

It only works while at idle, when you twist the throttle it go back to normal operation. Helps when stuck in stopped traffic and temperature goes up. May idle a little rough when sitting there, but according to some says it help to keep the temperature from rising, don't really myself I have an 06 with true duels, opened up mufflers, SEAC, and a thundermax so not a heat problem anymore. Great to have you with us, Dionicio, a whole lot of knowledgeable people here, I'm just not one of them. Good luck and ride safe.

I had it installed on my 07 last year during my 5 K service. Works well and does reduce the heat when stuck in traffic. You do have a bit of rough idle when it 'kicks' inbut it goes away as soon as you twist the throttle. I recommend adding it.

you have an 08, you are able to enable/disable it yourself. look at bulleting m1213a, dated 20 december 07. if you're bike was produced after dec 3.

see this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=2733924

if you're bike was made prior to that, then you can have it turned on, and subsequently turned off once under warranty.

but i don't understand why if you are concerned about heat, you do not want to do any mods to reduce engine temp?

So does it hurt anything to just leave this enabled all the time? Or would it be better to disable it and only turn it on when you go into the big city?
