We tracked down a "whistle" to the IAC opening a little as the engine shut down in an attempt to maintain idle speed. The air goes through it and whistles. You can change the pitch or even eliminate it for a while by cleaning the IAC with some intake cleaner.
mines sounds like popeye's pipe!...i'll go look it up but, what's an IAC?
found it--- IAC stands for Idle Air Control. It`s used to do exactly whatthe name implies.
The IAC should have no input on the popping. Normal IAC specs are 30 counts at idle hot/while stopped. AFR would be the leading factor when popping through the exhaust system is a concern. Run some real time data frames (record) andplay it back. Look at the data when the problem occurs and you should find your problem.
