Default RE: ZUMO Powerlet Techmount quick disconnect

We have used Powerlet products for the past several years and many many bikes.

They have quality products, excellent Customer Service, and to top it all off their stuff is Made in America.

We have the Powerbar mounted on the left handle bar with a Legal Speeding Radar Box mounted on a Ram Quick Release mount using a pre-manufactured Powerlet Valentine Power Cable. Easy to remove should we need to stop for the night, or if the weather gets too bad.

Zuma 550 is going to be mounted on the RS of the Cop Glide, when the "tax stimulus check arrives".

Merlin,

Great set-up. They say imitation is the best form of flattery (or something like that) and I'm sure a lot of us will be copying your lead. I have a Zumo on the way and want to install a "quick disconnect" for the power and the cradle so I can swap it to another bike and for the reasons you said. I'm going to copy what you did except for hiding the wires in the handlebars. From what I had read, it sounds like Powerlet is quality stuff.

I've got a stupid question...make that two. It looks like the cradle is bolted to the stem plate in place of the Ram mount. How do you remove the cradle? Is the stem a slip fit so that the cradle and stem pull out of the Powerlet fixture? It looks like the stem could be rotated left or right but there is no up and down adjustment, right? I ask because I'm tall and don't want to have to scrunch down to see the screen.

The hardware is great looking but your installation makes it a truly professional job!

(DUH. I think the up and down adjustment is made when you install the Powerlet on the handlebar, no?)

To remove the Zumo Cradle I used the Techmount Accessory Quick Change Adapter $14.95. It is a quick disconnect with a small ball that locks the Zumo cradle into place on the riser plate.

There is no up and down adjustment on the Techmount riser. I personally used the Techmount 2 ˝ inch riser. I believe they have multiple taller sizes. The Techmount 2 ˝ inch riser puts the Zumo at the perfect height for me.

Default Info from Powerlet

A friend of mine ordered parts for a similiar install. Salesman asked to have the latest info about part #'s posted.

PKT-068 is now the PKT-90 or PKT-091 depending on the diameter of the bars.

The techmount items are bundled here:

Aparently the company has a new site and some of the links posted here earlier don't work.

Looks superb but one question - can you remove the Techmount easily so that when you're riding without the satnav you just have the Powelet visible?

Thanks in advance...

Here is a pic with the bare mount Powerbar and Tecmount stem with the Tecmount quick disconnect removed. The Techmount stem screws firmly into the Powerlet Powerbar and is not designed for quick removal. Even though the "plate" shows, it is chrome and IMHO does not look bad.

Here is a side view with both the audio and the bluetooth using the standard helmet headset.
