I have an 07 RKC. Went out to dinner tonight and when I came up to a red light my bike died like I had hit the kill switch. It started right back up but the speedo and odometer quit working. Also, the self-cancel funtion on the turn signals stopped working. All the way home, I had to restart it every time I had to slow down or stop. My first thought was a fuse but all the fuses look fine. I guess I'll be making a trip to the stealer tomorrow but would like to have some input from you guys so they don't screw me. Have any of you had the same problem and if so, what fixed it?
Hey Rox...
My 07 Ultra did the same thing @300miles new. Look at the speed sensor. The computor thinks the bike is over-reving for speed of zero mph, so it shuts itself down. I had a sharp mechanic find it. Have seen this mentioned by other forum members. Seems the speed sensor is well known problem to forum members. Just wish I knew before mine decided to die and give me near heart failure.
Had the problem on the way home from a long 250 mile ride. Happened 4 miles from home .Tried to time the stop lights but never made it. I thought I was going to be spending all my she money to have it repaired.Turned out to be a loose battery connection. Hope that helps.
