I am in the mist of doing a street glide make over and was wondering if anyone has lowered the rear end on the street glide. If so what shocks did you use and did it change the ride at all. I ride 2 up on this bike 85% of the time. The reason I'm thinking of lowering it is because I am vertically challenged (around 5'7"). I am used to my fatboy which sits around 23.5 inches. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
you're already 1" lower then most... Have your seat re-done @ Mean City (vendor here) first... Lowering the bike any lower will not only kill the ride but bottom out with 2 up... Only way around it MIGHT BE A GOOD Rear Air Ride System - You can always lower the FT 1" also Recommend PROGRESSIVE spring kit..
I lowered my girls glide with a air ride kit out of california. It is on a timer and works on its own. No buttons to push. Lowers at a stop and raises back up when riding. I can dig up the name of th company at work tomorrow.

When you get a chance, let me know which kit you put on. Thanks!

RE: lowering street glide
I lowered the rear of my 08 SGbecause it looks cool...I'm 6'. I lowered it with lowering blocks boughtfrom ebay, they are adjustable, 2" or 1 1/4" one up they are at 2", two up 1 1/4" takes about 10-15 minutes to change shock position. Yep changes the ride a bit, this mod was done for style over function....same reason harley didn't place a oil cooler on our bikes , but its got one now... so much for style.
Now onto the progressive 1" front lowering spring kit....

Thanks for the information. If you can be so kind and send me the link for the lowering blocks that would be great. You mentioned that it does make a difference as for the ride, is it just very stiff?
How do you make the adjustments from 2" to 1 1/4?
You also mentioned that you are going to use a progressive front lowering kit, why progressive versus HD's?
