Default Tired of messing around with PCIII

I make too many changes to spend the money on a dyno, I'm tired of messing the PCII which doesn't have a map for my set up, and it's all kind of a guessing game anyhow, and I refuse to purchase a SERT and dyno from HD telling me I have to go their route or my bike just won't run right.
Where is a good place to buy a Thundermax. I keep reading nothing but good about these. Thanks

What set up do you have that you can't seem to get close with a PCIII?

EZlife, I have an 06 EGC, 95" big bore stage 2, 203 cams, se a/c, stage 2 download, Fat Cat 2:1 with quiet baffle. Just after I wrote this post, I thought I'd try it again. The PCII people were telling me to use a download from a bike with a stock ecu. I'm guessing to keep it running rich, and then work from there. I had little or no luck. I then tried one on my own that had the same set up as mine except for a different 2:1 pipe. What a difference! The bike runs smooth, with only a little decel popping around 1800-2000 rpm. I just hope it's not running to lean now, I'll check the plugs when it cools down and see how they look. If I can get it to run good with the PCII, I'd rather stick with it rather than spend a bunch more on a Thundermax.

I agree with ya.............ran a PCIIIusb for 2 years on my bike, wasted $800 on dyno tuning.......and the bike never ran as good as it does now the DTT auto-tune system.

Closed-loop is the only way to go if you like to change things around at will.

Thats why I was asking. Sure there was a map out there close you could work from. Decel popping can be eliminated by adding some fuel to the zero throttle column. I added values anywhere from 10 to 20 from 1000 to 4000. All gone. Plenty of PCIII help on here just do a search and you'll be readin for hours.

Good to hear ya seem to have it close. Keep checkin them plugs. I would swap'em out after a new map for 50 miles or so and pull, so I got a true read, till I finally got dialed in. Easy to read a clean set.

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty happy with the way it's running right now, except for the decel popping, which I'm pretty sure I can get straightened out with a little tweaking. Knowing me, I'll probably end with the Thundermax in the future, but because of this forum, I've spent a bunch more dough on this bike than I should be right now and need to pull back the reigns a bit and work with what I've got. I'll pick up a couple sets of plugs today and take your advice and check them every 50 miles or so. GOOD IDEA! The weather for the rest of the week is supposed to be nice so I'll be able to get some good riding in. Thanks for your help! Kris

I never understand why people just don't get their bike dyno tuned from the person in the area and be done with it.

Mattman, that's what makes the world go around. Some of us get it, some don't.
