just carry a gas can to be on the safe side that way you have a reason to have him with you if anyone asks

Hey, I've giving friends a ride when their bikes had problems. Like lack of petro. I didn't care then, and wouldn't care if I saw you riding with your long time friend.

Give him a ride and screw what other people think about it.

Wild Hogs comes to mind. Just don't wear any cologne so he won't be tempted to smell your neck.

He wants a ride, give him a ride. BTW: he might check into a Suzuki C50. New ones can be had for around 6k out the door. Most people mistake it for a Harley. Quite honestly I got more compliments on that bike than I do my SG.
