Shift Gauge??
for 150.00 that damn thing should shift for you..... I shift by sound anyway, I have been riding bikes for 40 years and don't need a tach or a guage to tell me when to shift....
amazes me what people will try to sell and it also amazes me that someone will buy it, if you need one of these guages to tell you when to shift (unless you are deaf) you should find another hobby... if you are deaf and this is the only way that you know when to shift (no tach mounted on the bike) get a tach, it has more use.

Most other motorcycles have gear indicators as stock items. It is mainly useful for stop lights, etc, when you need to make sure you are in the right gear. Most of us have, on occasion, tried to pull away from a stoplight in 3rd gear and stalled the motor. An indicator helps prevent this.
I've installed Dakota Digital gauges in the bagger I'm building. One of the features is the speedo and tach are integrated to produce a gear indicator. There is a setup procedure to initialize the setting.

My Dodge P/U with a manual transmission came with an amber shift light and it was very annoying. I use the past tense because I eliminated the distraction by covering it with a strip of electrical tape about a week after I bouught the truck!
