IDS Bearing failure

seems like nothing to "wait and see" about.
As for the poll;
Dealer purchased, dealer pressed bearing, dealer installed - dealer better dig a hole if it's faulty, blows up and I live!
Had my bearing fail, found out when I got a flat on a long trip through NC, found out the the dealer had pressed it in with the wrong arbor.Think I was the first one they installedit on, problem was that the dealer did not have a replacement in stock, Petersens in Miami over nighted one up there and paid for a 4 day rentalfor a 08 UC so I could continue my trip, they really stepped up to the plate. This is one of the best mods I made.

But that damage is not bearing failure. IMHO.
That is damage from installation.
whether during pressing, hot cold method, in backwards, or the way the axle
spacers mount up against it, that I can't say.
The cracking and chipping away of the flange is an installation problem.
Overheated and blue then I could believe failure.
If it was just a crack down through and across the inner race maybe.
But looks like there is also a chip missing out of the inner race.
That is usually from an outside source striking the flange (hammer/ punch)
Uneven pressure from a press (cocked in the bore while pressing) or improper
final assembly.
But like I said just my opinion.
But in 30 + years wrenching on everything from bikes to Catapillar Equipment
and lots of things in between I would have to stand by installation damage and
failure.
This is the best pic I could get of the failure
