Bought my 550 in September of 07 and it's been all over the Southeast on my bike as well as my truck and I've had no problems with it... "D"

Had mine 11 months now no problems. Garmin has great customer service. I sent in a GPS from my boat once that was lonnnngggg out of warranty. They repaired it and upgraded it to the newest verson and returned it all free of charge in a week. That wins loyalty from me.

Got mine last spring. It did die, and Garmin sent me a new battery, and has not had any problems since. I used it for a 5000 mile trip out west, plus have used it for most of my longer weekend rides. Garmin was very helpful. Even sent me an extra security screw, and the screw driver for it, because I mentioned that I thought, if I forgot to keep it tight, it could fly out ofthe bracket. They even gave me some good roads to ride on my vacation, since I was going to be near their area.

My dad had his Zumo die within a week of having it and a friend had a Nuvi die in the first month. Both units were promptly replaced with great customer service, and both love their units. My dad is on his third Garmin and won't buy any other brand (my mom and I have his old ones and both work great still).

I've had my unit for 9 months now.
I've used it on my bike and in my work truck >>> 25, 350 + miles total so far.
The only problem that I had was the cycle mount had a charging failure.
The unit would charge in the suction cup mount, but would not in the cycle mount.
I contacted customer service via phone and they sent me a brand new mount.
I received it in 3 days!
Now thats service.
I have owned and will continue to buy Garmin products.
This customer service is unheard of in todays world.
The unit is very accurate and easy to use.
Its withstood pouring rain and many miles with many smiles.
Buy one and you wont regret it.

I have a Zumo 450 and just love it. I got a Chrome Tech Mount and Security screws holding it on. Stays out in the rain, cold, sun, and it works fine (knock on wood) Had it for about 7 months now.

I've had my 550 about 14 months and never had an issue. 18k+ miles in wind, rain, sun, etc... Plus a few miles in my wife's cage when she has had to travel...

ORIGINAL: chappy

I drag mine from the bike to the car and to the truck back to the bike, not to mention all the hours I have had it hooked up to the computer for setting up routes andupdates and so on.
Igot it late last June and it's been nearly nonstop use.

The only complant I have is, "me". All this high tech stuff is staying just ahead of my knowledge and understanding, and at times it's very frustrating.

chappy

Hey,,, when it says turn right you're supposed to turn right,,, right Delta??? Just an inside joke for Delta and Chappy,,, I live in a hard to find place and year before last they came to visit me,,, it was raining and I watched them drive right by,,, I went down to catch them on the way back.

Moral of story,,, those units can get you where you want to go,,, especially to see your HDF friends!!!!

I've had a Nuvi 350 for 3 yrs that I bought at Best Buy with a extended service contract. Haven't had a problem. Got a Zumo 550 and got the mount in my F250 Powerstroke and on my Electraglide. No problems.
I've had garmin units on my bass boat. Garmin has about the best GPS units around and about the easiest to operate. Their customer service is great.
If you are scared buy a extended contract on the unit.
