Has anyone done the Roadking Police Bag Hockeypuck lid replacement with the flush push button replacement kit? Any experience in a particular brand that you recommend. Also is it a fairly simple install? Any links, and or suggestions to a good set would be appreciated.
They are manufactured by southco http://www.southco.com/product/part.aspx?pid=17352I was fortunate enough that the company I work forbuys hundreds of latches from them a year andthey were more than happy to sample me a pair for a new machine we might be going to build [sm=wootwoot.gif]. once they get the search feature back to working there is a member here who has instruction on the installation
Get the new metal ones from Squad Fitters. I have them and they are awesome. The plastic ones from Southco, suck. They are plastic and will break.
Also the metal onesdrop right in the exsisting holes when the puck is removed. There is no additional drilling required, like the plastic ones require. I had a body shop fill in the rivet holes and repaint the lids vivid black. Looks awesome.
Southco offers two latches--the ABS plastic version shown in the picture towards the top of the thread shows South latch M1-2A-13-1; and, a chrome plated zinc (pushbutton and flange) latch, MP05-312-11that doesn't require enlarging the hole in the lid.
The thread Rodent posted refers to both Southco latches and provides a link to Southco's website for complete information on both latches.
From a Southco distributor, I paid 10 bucks ea. for the ABS version, and 13.25 ea. for the chrome-plated zinc version.
If someone has a picture of the Squadfitter's zinc latch, especially the barrel inside the lid, I'd like to see it. I thought the Squadfitter's zinc latch was the Southco Zinc latch, but the Southco latch has a plastic barrel, while the Squadfitters latch is described as being metal. Just curious.
I've got the squadfitters latches. They are much better being totally metal and have a flawless deep chrome finish....They also require no drilling, and only need you to slightly bend the latch finger in the lower bag for them to latch tightly.
