As far as tow company "lists", I will add this. In Clinton County PA there is 1 AAA tow service. They are out of Loganton. If you break down in Lock Haven and want to use your AAA membership benefits you are going to wait at least 40 mins for a tow truck or rollback. I was a cop in this town. Had someone breakdown within eyesight of a chevy dealer, stopped to see what was up with the vehicle. They asked me if I new the name of the dealer as they were driving a GM product and wanted to use AAA to tow them to the chevy dealer. I kinda chuckled and told them they were gonna wait for about 45 minutes or more for the tow truck to show up. Needless to say they called AAA cuz they didn't believe me. Well they sat in their car and waited forover two hours as that one and only tow truck was already busy and they weren't going to pay anything out of pocket when they were paying AAA already for this service. I don't know why these companies do this, but it seems like every one of them does. You may have 10 tow companies within a 10 minute drive, but the only approved one could be 50 miles away. The moral of this story, carry a credit card and a cell phone. Try HOG first, don't get the answer you want, take care of it. If I call hog and I have to wait for over an hour, I'll take care of it on my own.
I have AAA rv plus with my wife and college kids all enrolled. Theywill pay for a tow up to 100 miles anywhere I want, not just to a dealership, they give you lockout service, will deliver gas and do jump starts. This includes anyvehicle we are driving even if it isborrowed or rented, cars motorcycles, campers, costs around $150.00. The only time I used it there was going to be a wait so I called around and got alocal Chevy dealer to come and tow the truck. I paid for the tow andAAA reimbursed me a few weeks later, all they needed was a copy of the receipt. It is great peace of mind. If it was just me (without the wife and kids) I would save the money and gamble I won't need it and pay for towing if it ever happened odds are good you will never need it.
The HOG website can print anything they want, but that doesn't make it true.
They say they cover the first one hundred dollars. Member only needs to sign.
NOT TRUE............................
Last year enroute to Sturgis, I got a flat rear tire. A big chunk of steel. This was a new tire with just over three hundred miles on it. I was just over a mile from the St. Cloud, MN Harley Dealer. They refused to come get me stating they don't do towing.
HOG sent a tow truck, which required me to pay $80.00 cash. Ittook eight weeks to get reimbursed.
HOG's excuse wasthey have no affiliated tow companyin the area.
I'm getting a new bike, so the HOG membership well be includedfor a year. I'm also getting the extended warranty for 5 year, because I plan on doing a lot of traveling. Is the HOG towing the same as the extended warranty towing?
Hi friends,
Here is what I'm reading... some of us have had great service from HOG, others did not. Most of us that have gone to HOG events have had a great time and for those of us that are into that sort of thing, it seems worth the cost. Many of us have used AAA RV coverage and found it to be worth the cost and has more value when comparing simply on the basis of towing and road side assistance. Seems to me, if you want community and basic piece of mind for roadside assistance HOG is great... if you could care less about pins, patches, rallies, etc... it does seem that the AAA is a better option. One thing to keep in mind about opinions is that for every opinion on a positive there will be someone that can contradict it with a negative. The wonderful thing is that there is no right or wrong, it's just what works for you.
Ever since they printed all that bullsh** about only being able to use Harley oil or void your warranty my dues were not renewed . They never ever bothered to answer my letter.
well, i don't know if it was yours, but they did answer someone's letter on this subject. how many times do you expect them to answer the same letter?
Sometimes when we rant and rave we don't know what we are talking about. This is cut & pasted from the HOG website concerning their roadside assistance program. It states they will tow you to the closest HD Dealership, not your friends house !!! If it's on the weekend the dealer may not be open and you may have to wait until they are. You can pay more for a better program that will cover some of your other expenses. The one you get for your membership fee is the basic plan as outlined below. If you don't like the program then the best thing you can do is get out. If you need it towed to the closest HD dealer and they are closed what is AAA or anyone else going to do for you ???
If an active full or full life H.O.G. member is stranded due to a covered problem, contact Road America to arrange for a tow to the nearest authorized Harley-Davidson dealership. Their toll-free number is on the back of your membership card. (Please note that authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships are not open 24/7.) Road America will send an authorized service provider for assistance. There is no out-of-pocket expense to H.O.G. members for covered services received up to $100. Members simply sign the invoice from the provider to verify that service was received. For services over the $100 per occurrence, per year limit, the member is responsible for any non-covered expenses or expenses in excess of $100. Road America can assist you with towing service, fuel/fluid replacement (does not cover cost of fuel/fluid) and extrication assistance. Certain restrictions and/or exclusions apply.
Sometimes when we rant and rave we don't know what we are talking about. exactly right, i don't know about stash, but in my case, i specifically asked the hog representative if he could have the tow company tow my bike to my house. being new years eve, the dealership was going to be closed for a couple of days, and it was twice as far as it would be to my house. he said 'no problem, they would tow wherever you wanted with the mileage not to exceed the distance to the dealership'.

Go HOG. I will really enoy the expensive FREE party in mIlwaukee this summer and will pay the expensive $25.00 to see Aerosmith and Kid Rock.
the FREE party in milwaukee is not a hog event. it is an hd 105th anniversary event. that doesn't count. i don't know about the ticket prices for aerosmith and kid rock, that may be tied to hog, i dunno. actually don't care, aerosmith hasn't really come out with anything good since the '70s (imo) anyway.
Only time I had it was the free year with new bike . I would not give them a dollar for that junk patch and the pin that went right into the garbage can . I carry fix a flat and tools .
So your saying they re tracked there statement about voiding the warranty ? They never answered my e-mail. Gets me sick that they scare new riders into using only H-D oil.

Check with your motorcycle insurance company. Some companies offer roadside assistance, Which I have had to use. The insurance company called a tow truck and they did everything for me. As far as needing a part for your bike that you need I had a steering problem and needed a special part, This was late on a saturday at a harley dealer far from home. the guys stayed over and got me on my way. I still dont have the hog membership. Altough I did have it for three years and didnt know why I was actually carrying it.
