I got 19 thou. out of a rear tire on my fatboy last summer, put on a NEW Dunlop402, and with in 300 miles, I picked up a rusty 16 penny nail right in the center of the tread. go figure........
durning the last 200,000 miles i have always replaced rear every10 k and front every 20
front could have gone longer rear was just about done every 10k check up
all ultra mostly solo hwy riding
There are a lot of variables in tire wear. Heat is a real snag for thread life. I made a IBA ride a couple years ago on my other bike. We did 1,004 miles under 13 hours. We averaged around 80 mph includding eat and fuel stops. That 1,000 miles cost me. The wear looked like 6,000 miles of wear. The temp. was average 80 degres during the day. My normal wear was 10,000 on that bike.
I have gotten as little as 5,200 on the rear and as much as 8,000. If I get 8,000 then I am happy.
I ride 2 up unless I am on a IBA ride but then I ride my other bike. The weight does make a difference as I see it. I have 1 bike I ride only solo and I get much better miliage on that bike than the other 2. Don't worry about how many miles you get on a tire just be concerned if the tire is safe.
