I wish you guys would tell your secret for tire wear,I don't ride hard,I still have the original brake pads at 20,000,on my third set of tires, about 7,000 is all I seem to get.

In my experience Dunlops will give you better mileage. I got 16,500 out of my last rear tire. I'm a conservative rider and most of my miles are long distance freeway commuting. The last Metzeler I had only gave me 9500 miles on the rear.

It all depends on how you ride, roadway surfaces in your area, hard accelerations, etc. Metzeler doesn't last as long but if your into pushing the limits a bit on twisty roads it's probably a better choice. If you're just a casual cruiser go with Dunlops.

Wonder if mileage issue is related to whay you call worn out. Had two stock rears on my '04 UGC both went 12-14K front went 31000, but shoulda changed it at 25000. When front was ready I went to Avon Venom'sand won't ever run anything else. I know Avon's won't last as many miles but they grip like no other brand. 1st Avon rear went about 7000 miles. On second now and when it's worn out the front will be ready for 2nd Avon.

I wonder if the people wearing the rears out in under 8k miles and also having the fronts go 15k+ miles are the kind of people that use mostly the rear brake as well as downshift to slow down - and not use the front brake much at all.

If you want better wear out of the rear, then use mostly the front for braking....
